Behind the Screen: The End of MTV as We Know It

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Will you audition as the show's first demonic nun?

Yes. And I better see you at the casting calls, but wear sunglasses when you see me because I wouldn't want to possess you too. I'm a demonic nun with morals, y'know.

Because people like you can't stand when people pushback against your opinions with legitimate facts ? Yeah you're right Sad

Thank you Sportsmaster because I didn't want to be predictable and entertain that.

I've been "center-left" my whole life. I come from a blue-collar background but am educated enough from my Dad to know the billionaire parasites divide us in order to conquer us.

In the past 20 years, 15% of the left has moved to "far left", but 90% of the right has moved to the "far right". I haven't moved a gosh darn inch, so now I'm considered heavily liberal lol.

If I was still in my earlier 20s I would've.

I wanted to do Atlanta but I wasn't 21 yet and I didn't want to be on Facebook. That's a lil too low brow for me. They could've put that on Netflix. And speaking of that they need to bring back College Hill.

I think people living together getting into arguments about politics would actually be very interesting television. Particularly if casting was done well and the people are articulate and somewhat likable.

We are very different people because that sounds terrible to me lol. Like one of those stupid jubilee videos

Those videos are just ragebaiting because they never go anywhere. It's not designed actually to educate.

But, its high engagement is why a RW could work, people love these clashes of ideologies, but it's often thankless and poorly handled.

You don't need to go that abrasive or that annoying but to be fair, those videos get tens of millions of views...

It's not facts lol. It's because people can't have different viewpoints or listen to people's perspectives.

Both numbers are 95%. Well actually I know more extreme left.

People don't want to watch that. They only want to see their side. People also want an escape from the negativity of politics when they are watching tv for entertainment.

Flopnanas#135

Yall know damn well no one is going to paramount to watch this fecal

I actually don't think we should treat conspiracy theories as the same type of perspective as someone arguing from legitimate fact.

Why do YOU think those two things deserve to be held in the same regard?

AshtonMartin#137

I think Peacock needs to be fighting for that Real World ip from MTV hard rn.

I still think they should do RW like love is blind where each season is set in a city and they cast from that area. People can still interact with their friends/partners and could give it a more Jersey Shore vibe.

Then just do a Jersey Shore type show lol. We just need drunks hooking up and fighting while living their lives and non of the deep fecal.

You're displaying the depth of a nun's vagína rn    (not mine tho).

The Real World wouldn't work at all today.  No one could be honest

The Real World wouldn't work at all today.  No one could be honest

Any Klan outfits you own that you would've been comfortable wearing back in the day if miracles started happening and goldfish started to fly? Assuming another one of the miracles is you actually getting cast, ofc.

Per usual...you're trying to hard.

Just like at the first few seasons.   Julie would be vilified for fighting with Kevin.  Aaron and Jon would have been attacked for their conservative views.  As would Rachel have been on SF.

The show didn't even work at the end due to cell phones and the internet.  The world is different now.  The show doesn't work hence the dumb themes

its funny because aussie shore has lots of that and its available on paramount in canada and the uk to watch (and obv aus) but not in the US. But I lowkey dk how Americans would handle it. If I remember correctly, they pissed on each other in the pool first episode of the first season and then this season was an **** but it was edited out lol

the site is heavily moderated to spam fruit fly now... kvm can't spew what he really wants anymore

Moderated so heavy as if it has people to lose LOL!

We missed you!!

Me too ♥️

LucciVee#146

Bring back Pímp My Ride too. I will nominate Lil Mama to replace Xzibit as host and head Swagateur.

Kai Cenat would be better --somebody from Gen Z would garner a new audience however Lil Mama would've been great a decade ago

+ attractive cast, love dynamics and love storylines and easily accessible to watch-- literally all these things play a huge part in current day popularity people wanna feel like it's unattainable but still relatable enough to resonate

LucciVee#148

IP's they should be or should've been brought back:

Charm School - they could've made it with ex reality stars (like a House of Villains route) or influencers or notable D list trashy celebrities that are socially known to be infamous and they could use this as a way to rehabilitate their image with the same format as original version.

College Hill - but this time it's more inclusive racially and culturally and obviously a new network but still keep the same feel as the original -- make the house more of a moment and let them fight it out while still educating with divisive topics also great casting with attractive people

"Code" shows - Girl & Guy Code were great television at its peak and were great filler rerun for the channel when nothing was on in comparison to Ridiculousness that feels empty and background noise whereas this was also great background television but you could jump in anytime to really indulge if you wanted to -- I say bring it back with of course Gen Z influencers giving their takes while also including OG cast members also could make more niche iterations if successful

New Years specials & Unpluggeds - even though I don't wanna just sector this off to just these particular things however I think they should tap back into music specials with big artist -- of course we know music videos aren't that must see anymore so I get the disassociation from that but they can still make music must see when it is showcased on the channel like they do with the VMAs -- I think bringing back music specials with live performances from notable names could get eyeballs if done right because people still appreciate live performances definitely when it's their favorite artist or at least someone notable

Flopnanas#149

Mtv is officially SHUTTING down after 44 years Sad

Challenge 17#150

Just the music channels lol people are freaking out over nothing

GoldenRing#151

U.S. channels are still up for now.

It was the U.K that lost all its music channels and a few other places in Europe.
