Behind the Screen: The End of MTV as We Know It

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

The End of MTV as We Know It

IP's they should be or should've been brought back:

Charm School - they could've made it with ex reality stars (like a House of Villains route) or influencers or notable D list trashy celebrities that are socially known to be infamous and they could use this as a way to rehabilitate their image with the same format as original version.

College Hill - but this time it's more inclusive racially and culturally and obviously a new network but still keep the same feel as the original -- make the house more of a moment and let them fight it out while still educating with divisive topics also great casting with attractive people

"Code" shows - Girl & Guy Code were great television at its peak and were great filler rerun for the channel when nothing was on in comparison to Ridiculousness that feels empty and background noise whereas this was also great background television but you could jump in anytime to really indulge if you wanted to -- I say bring it back with of course Gen Z influencers giving their takes while also including OG cast members also could make more niche iterations if successful

New Years specials & Unpluggeds - even though I don't wanna just sector this off to just these particular things however I think they should tap back into music specials with big artist -- of course we know music videos aren't that must see anymore so I get the disassociation from that but they can still make music must see when it is showcased on the channel like they do with the VMAs -- I think bringing back music specials with live performances from notable names could get eyeballs if done right because people still appreciate live performances definitely when it's their favorite artist or at least someone notable

These aren't bad.

I feel like TinyDesk took the niche that Unplugged had. My friend got a vinyl of Anderson Paak's TinyDesk, they used to sell Unplugged performances on CD after. MTV took too long to shift.

People are so funny like they are sad about this news like they would actually use cable TV to watch a music video in our year 2026.

U.S. channels are still up for now.

It was the U.K that lost all its music channels and a few other places in Europe.

You a colonizer from the UK?
