Probably drugs and parties. There is no other excuse.

The young demographic aren't going to watch a cast of mostly pushing 40 year olds do challenges and the current audience of loyal watchers clearly aren't enough... it's OVER!

Good. It's what MTV deserves.

Serves them right if the challenge gets canceled. We'll finally be free of tori, her smelly best friend, and his concubine Michele for good! WE WON!

MTV's programming directors should honestly be in prison. How do you kill the edgiest network that was so iconic? How do Bravo and TLC survive & thrive through all the changes to media but MTV couldn't? It outta be studied and a class at universities. I wasn't allowed to watch MTV which obviosuly made me want to watch it. MTV Spring Breaks, I'd have the volume on real low and have it ready to flip back to Nick or Disney when I heard my mom coming. They took away the edgy and that's what killed it. They took out the sex, the drama, and all the things that made it iconic and it killed the series.

twinsies! I did the same trick with the volume, starting watching when I was 10 and would change it to 7th heavens propaganda if my parents walked in LOL

 It would have to be Las Vegas 2 levels of great casting.

Kinda random but I have a 26 yr old coworker who is obsessed with Awkward and when I said, you mean the mtv show? She said no, and then I showed her it was a mtv show and she had no idea. They have lots of content in their vault that wasnt necessarily my preference but had a good following. I dont know exactly where the magic was lost over the years, but I do think trying to make it more family friendly was 100% a horrible decision.  The mtv audience historically wants mess. 

Bring back Pímp My Ride too. I will nominate Lil Mama to replace Xzibit as host and head Swagateur.

You might have to build some sort of theme into it. But it's all about exposure and buzz/positive word of mouth.

It's been gone long enough that if they were to really put something special out there (and make it accessible to stream), it would do very well.

The RW just requires good casting  and marketing but regardless it'll be divisive.  

In some ways I think I'd be worse now than a few years ago. But LI blowing up is a good example of how "big" the average Joe can be. But like Sportsmaster said, there would have to be some theme or hook to fuel drama. People aren't just going to watch because it's seven strangers in a house.

Id nominate Skeletons as a format. Or maybe the job they do is politically relevant to current events? City is also really important .

People are fatigued of political/social topics and only want to hear what validates theirs. People can't have opposing views these days. It would flop.

It's not apples and oranges; it's life or death. But I do agree that's why the RW would suffer. I think post-2020 there was a space for it, and it would have been beneficial, but now it's in a fecal position unless the editing is nuanced enough.

I think society should be able to discern the things they are seeing to figure out what is right or wrong. But, there's too much dogwhistling nowadays for that to work. But, engagement is really what's important, regardless of how tiring the discourse is, and with the right cast that will blowup. I think the Atlanta season would have made some waves if it had been on something other than Facebook.

And, I think the last season of LI showed how stupid a lot of people are.

I don't want that replicated, but that's what an RW COULD lean into that subsection of reality TV and exploit it. But, I'd rather it be a little more responsible with it's presentation.

If I were doing it myself, I'd have the cast working at an after-school type of program to educate kids. Education, or the lack thereof, is lacking and under threat, and I think that could inspire some necessary conversation with the right people and care. And, that's really what The Real World was about: honest conversation and growth.

Part of the appeal of TRW back in the day, I think, (since I'm a young heffa and didn't watch during its prime), is that there was always an element of ORDINARY around it. Casting calls all throughout the country. Nobodies with personality getting chosen over fame-hungry mfruitflys.

There was this energy of like "omg have you heard of that show? I want to be on it!!! Maybe I'll audition next time they have a casting call in my city."

And then going, auditioning, and finally getting asked to come back to continue auditioning for more rounds??? I'm telling my friends all about it. They're gonna want to audition too. Maybe at least one of us will make it to the final round. DOEN UNDER, maybe one of us will ACTUALLY get picked to be on TV!!!

"I want to be a corporate lawyer one day, but for now, I would love to have fun and be on a show like this. I think it could bring more opportunities my way. I'm sure it won't affect my career in the future. Even if it does, people will forget about it eventually, and it'll be worth the exposure I'll be getting right now."
