And African Americans or Asians just aren't drawn to the Real World because they're not represented well. Every Black person I know watches BGC, and barely any watch RW. Some of my friends felt a certain way about the only black guy on the cast name being "Leroy, the garbage man".
Chances are this show won't get renewed. 1.7 is terrible ratings for anyone who knows something about TV. Anything under 2-3 million are considered bad.You have to take into consideration the differences between network and cable. Obviously a show like Survivor, The Bachelor or The Amazing Race is going to have higher ratings because everyone gets ABC and CBS. Not everyone has cable. And now, with the amount of reruns MTV does and the fact that they post full episodes online, episode premiere ratings will fall substantially. Now, if a show is pulling less than a million viewers on premiere night, you know it's in trouble (see: Skins, though I doubt they're canceling that).

Ashley from this season was not the stereotypical Angry black woman. And the difference in those shows & the Real World is they have constant drama. The RW has been getting killed ratings wise the past 5 years from VH1 shows because people like watching drama. The Real World simply does not provide quality drama anymore.

DC had good premiere ratings, but the ratings sucked hardcore afterwards. Brooklyn had a good premiere because of all the hype surrounding Katelynn. NOLA started off slow, but I believe the showed growth throughout the first 6-7 episodes.

I... don't think that's true. I'm not saying the ratings are stellar or that I know anything about ratings, but I really don't think anything under 2 million is considered bad, especially for a cable show. You simply can't compare The Jersey Shore to The Real World. Jersey Shore is a such a phenomenon that you just simply cannot make the comparison in my opinion. It's like comparing High School Musical to some other random Disney Channel movie. TRW has been on for almost 20 years, and no it's not getting the ratings it used to get but I don't think that these ratings are something to sneeze at. I mean, hell, these ratings are better than ratings that shows on network TV are pulling, well mainly the CW... But as I said, I am not pretending to be a ratings genius. I just think the Jersey Shore comparisons are a little unfair. Where are the other reality shows pulling those numbers?

Unfortunally RW it changes every season and they have beaten almost every single story possible down with a stick like a rememeber in 90s a gay roomate was taboo now it's almost weird for a roomates not be gay.They also need to focus on the good stories more for instance Brooklyn-Katelynne, Ayiia-Cutting,Jasmine-Drinking,Bronne,DC Josh and Erika past,Nola Ryan/Preston/Jemmye past. I feel dedicating an episode or 2 to someone backstory then have them rotate with other castmemebers is hurting the show ...Sorry for the rant.The Real World is done and that's it take the favorites put them on challenges and try to salvage the disater created.

At first for this season I thought Adam was goign to boost MTVs ratings. But I really think that Michael Ross is going to be the saving grace for thsi show. They had him on the view and he is just a hillarious and a nice relatable guy. I think the ratings will go up and expecting them to immediately be over 2.5 million after a few ****** seasons was a bit ambitious.

No, but its pretty clear that the show is staying. Jersey Shore is dying, MTV knows this, season 4 is the last season. Without Teen Mom, MTV pulls in crap ratings. They wouldn't axe a show that's this old in age and still pulling in good/decent ratings.

The bgc club is on OYXGEN not everyone has that channel in all fairness so maybe if the BGC CLUB was on mtv or vh1 it would have higher ratings but hopefully the ratings for rw gets better!
