The Theory of Everything - While there is life, there is hope.

"There should be no boundary between human endeavour," Stephen Hawking explains during a press conference. It is this line that strikes a chord at the very centre of James Marsh's incredible biopic on one of the most brilliant scientists of our time. The Theory of Everything is not just a story about the science behind the beginnings of our universe, but the science of love; and how life's challenges that we face everyday, shape who we are and what we achieve. Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones turn in phenomenal performances as the revolutionary Stephen Hawking and his former wife Jane Wilde. Eddie's mentally and physically challenging role, displaying Hawkings brilliance and motor neuron disease, are extremely commendable and impressive (a sure fire for a Best Actor nomination at next year's Oscars). On the more sensitive side, Felecity displays the endless love and powerful fight Jane brought to the Hawking household. As the years pass, their lives are changed tremendously in very profound and heartwrenching ways. The movie does not shy away from making Hawking a complex character, as well as Jane, showing both their positive and negative sides. I really liked that the movie was able to shape them into fully well-rounded characters despite the "romance" aspect of it. The score for the film is tremendous.. abosolutely outstanding! It hits all the right marks, brings upon emotions right when you are on the verge of tears, leaves you in awe after a beautiful monologue, and finishes with a melacholy but very fitting tone. The script and directing were top-notch.. right up there with the best... and the cinemetography? give that guy an award already! A masterpiece to watch. While some critics may be quick to judge how the film focuses more on the romance rather than the science that made Hawking so renowned, I believe that the love is what made him who he is today. Human endevour is endless... Stephen never gave up hope, nor did Jane... and though their lives ended up in different places, it was their years together that displayed to us how a little bit of hope can go a very, very long way.

Verdict: A beautiful story that shows how time and love are limitless... no beginning, no end (despite his earlier hypothesis). *****

Just saw Let's Be Cops. Pleasently surprised. It was actually really funny and enjoyable. I'm not sure if anyone here watches New Girl but the main characters are from that show. Jake Johnson is hilarious and could be a huge rising star of comedy.

This Is Where I Leave You - you guys are idiots, but you're my idiots

Dysfunctional families - everyone's got one, and every one of them is different... so just how is that "This Is Where I Leave You" can relate to everyone in one way or another. The hilarious family dramedy plays out as a "Death of a Salesman" (or can we say Altman) love-letter... one of the greatest dysfunctional families ever (The Lomans), now have a rival (Go Altmans!). When the patriach of the Altman family suddenly passes, his adult children regroup to mourn the loss... and everyone just so happens to be in a bad spot in their lives: Especially for our main protagonist, do-gooder, Judd (Jason Bateman). Having just walked in on his wife cheating on him in their bed, on her birthday, with his boss... things couldn't get worse, right? wrong. "Dad's dead," Judd's sister, Wendy, exclaims over a phone call from a hospital. As if things couldn't get worse, Judd now has to face his all-over-the-place family as they spend Shiva under house-arrest in his hometown he had tried to get away from for so long. The family includes the level-headed Wendy (Tina Fey), the responsible Paul (Corey Stoll), the kid at heart Phillip (Adam Driver), and the child psychologist matriarch Hillary Altman (Jane Fonda). As the week progresses, every Altman goes through their ups and their downs, showing that family drama never ends and even though you may fight sometimes, you will always love each other at the end of the day. It's a good moral you learn time and time again, but it's the cast that really makes this film soar. Every character feels relatable and each actor brings them to life perfectly. We all have our problems, no one is perfect, but we each have something apart of us that makes us unique and special. By the time their Shiva sitting ends, everyone has gone through the ringer and made up their differences (as families usually do). The film blends comedy and drama perfectly... you will be laughing one minute and crying the next... the film also brings about a certain nostalgia of childhood that makes the it incredibly heartwarming. Director Shawn Levy, known for his family comedies, adapts this best-seller book into the ideal "adult" family comedy! Special shoutouts to the supporting cast (Rose Byrne, Connie Britton, Timothy Olyphant, Abigail Spencer, and Debra Monk) who also made this film a hilarious and heartfelt ride. I myself have yet to reach the age where all my siblings have moved out, everyone is doing their own thing around the country, heck around the world, but one thing I know is for sure: No matter where or when we regroup in the near or far future, our love for each other will never end (despite the petty arguments about who gets the tv on thursday nights).

Verdict: If you have a heart, you will heart this movie. ****

Are There Too Many Superhero Movies for Hollywood to Handle?

Great question! Personally, I think the answer is yes. I'm experiencing a bit of superhero fatigue, they're everywhere. That isn't to say I'm not excited for a few upcoming superhero films, like Ant-Man (Paul Rudd is going to make for a hilarious hero!), but there are 40+ DC & Marvel movies planned over the next 6 years. Overkill much?

I knew I had already talked about this once, haha! But seriously, I'm sick of superheroes. I go check my favorite movie/TV websites and almost every article pertains to a Marvel or DC property, I was just on ScreenRant and the first seven entries related to them in some way, shape, or form... Is no one else experiencing a fatigue?! Maybe it's partially because I've never been big into these franchises anyway, lmao!

So anyone who wants to see a good movie this weekend should go and see No Good Deed! It was sooo entertaining!

'I Know What You Did Last Summer' Remake in the Works

I saw that on twitter earlier. Hollywood needs to hire new and original writers. Platinum Dunes is just going to destroy all Horror Remakes. Stop making remakes of movies that are less then 20 years old and write something original!

I don't even know if it's platinum dunes but they have been the ones remaking every horror! They can really make a good horror movies and not using dolls from other movies (Anabelle from the conjuring) they need to think and be creative. The Cabin in the Woods was an amazing horror movie. It was a breath of fresh air. 

I actually didn't mind the Friday The 13th remake/reboot... I thought it was well made and stylized to perfection. The first 20 minutes was like horror movie gold. The rest was okay.. at least it wasnt an exact remake and sort of borrowed upon different plots from the best of the series.

I may be the only one, but i'm excited for Part 2 (please be set in winter!) and the TV series that is in the works hahaha 

EDIT: Not to mention Dunes also made the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre which is one of my fav horror movies ever (the remake, not the original)... that scared the living bejeesus out of me when I was a kid. Hiding in the carcass of the cow was terrifying!!
