Behind the Screen: The Challenge: Generic Thread

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Editing does weird things. Darrell could've been ahead of Landon for a few minutes (while maybe Landon was ahead the rest of the time but wasn't shown on camera), that doesn't prove anything. And I don't think there was anything special about Darrell's performance in Gauntlet I final. I would choose Landon before CT. And you may be right, maybe CT has better endurance, and maybe he could win a challenge with Landon in it, but only if it's a Duel format. But on team challenges, nothing helps better in a final than your teammate's voice that encourages you no to stop and move on. And I doubt that CT would be the level-headed person in a team (seeing how Gauntlet 3 went). That is also the reason why Carley won FM2. Had CT been her partner I wouldn't be sure if Carley would've won because he would've yelled at her which doesn't make things better.

We don't know how CT would react to Carley as his partner. She is a different person than Adam. He probably wouldn't have won because he is CT and would have been targeted by Wes and Kenny. As for CT's endurance I am skeptical of it. From what I have heard on various cast members on different podcasts, radio shows, ustreams, etc. he is a chain smoker. The last time I remember him needing endurance was in The Duel 1 where he lost to Wes on the surfboard challenge because he got gassed, which is why he went into the Duel against Brad.

CT lost to Wes in the last mission on The Duel because it was a partner mission and Jodi didn't help him paddle at all. He did all the work and she just sat there until they had to swim, hence how she easily beat all the girls.

Lets no forget that Wes is a swimmer.

Wrong. CT has great endurance along with Darrell who kept up with Landon(and was ahead of him at times watch the episode on Youtube) on the Inferno 2 final mission.....not to mention his performance in the Gauntlet 1 final mission. Darrell doesn't get tired in final missions he's out for that money! Also, Jersey Shore castmembers on the challenges would make the Fresh Meat concept look like nothing.
I don't need to watch, I have seen it before. That final didn't have much for them to do, bike, run etc. When it comes to finals that they have today. Landon is greater than the rest. Landon, who can carry all the weight in finals with a partner like Carley and still beat Kenny and Laurel. Landon has freakish strength/endurance. Darrell has the endurance but he can't do the kind of manual labor they have in these finals and still keep up with Landon's pace, CT can't either. Darrell isn't good at puzzles, afraid of heights, isn't a good swimmer also.

You're kidding right? Editing? Maybe they used special effects to make Darrell appear to be in front of Landon most of the time.....

CT may not get the respect he deserves from fans like yourself......but facts show he is superior to Landon physically.

Wrong! Darrell is VERY strong, possibly stronger than Landon. Watch the Human Ox Pull mission on Fresh Meat 1 on MTV.com(http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/98160/picking-teams.jhtml#series=2215&seriesId=19929&channelId=1&id=1536758). Darrell has great endurance and great physical strength aswell due to his boxing background. CT and Darrell can keep up with Landon in a final for sure.

It has been a while since I have seen it, but I do think you are right on that part. I still don't think a chain smoker, no matter how good the athlete is, could have finished the Final Challenge on the last few seasons. I guess we will never know though.

You seem to be telling people a lot about "facts" and how they're "wrong" when most of what you say is opinion. Darrell being "better" than CT or Landon is opinion, as is CT being "better" than Landon and Darrell.

It's amazing that there are people that still don't think CT is superior physically to Landon. CT would beat Landon in a physical elimination round, he is not only MUCH bigger, but stronger aswell, and not to mention a complete animal.

Has anyone else noticed that Brandon is not wearing any gloves in the Derrick vs Brandon Handcuff gulag? I mean, the handcuffs were quite spiky and it was obviously less painful with gloves on, so I wonder why didn't Brandon use any.

I think Laurel, Cara and Sarah will be doing challenges back to back until the show ends.

I very much agree. But i think if none of them come back then it will be weird, cause Laurel has been in every episode for the last 3 seasons.

This would be the perfect challenge to have a pretty new cast (a mix of old and new) because I feel Rivals really put some of these veterans (Jenn, Kenny, Tyler, Paula, Laurel, Sarah, Wes, Evelyn, Johnny) to rest. I'd rather not watch Laurel go off on a side rant, be beat down, and have to fake apologize, when things other people say were a lot worse.
ViewRam90#111
I hated when they cast the same people over and over and the producers only cast real veterans/older cast members and they get outnumbered by the JEK alliance and followers. I wish the producers would cast more old cast members and fewer new cast members so they can get eliminated and dont run the show.

Does anyone think we'll be seeing any Real World: San Diego 2011 cast members on Challenge 22? I hope so.

I want to see Zach and maybe one of the girls :-) Hopefully the next challenge have a lot old cast members and newbies and a brand new format.

From the guys I could def see Frank and Zach being on the next one, from the girls I'm not sure, Sam and Ashley maybe.

I wouldn't count on seeing Ashley ever again on another BMP-related show. I don't know about Zach, but if he falls into the same circumstances as Knight, then we'd never see him either (or at least so long that he and the blond are sort of together).

What happened with Knight?

I may have had that backwards actually, but if I'm not mistaken, Knight will only do one with Jemmye. Now that I think about it, that may be the opposite in that Jemmye may only do one with Knight.

Knight said he wouldn't do a challenge if Jemmye wasn't on it too and vice versa. And whoa! Ashley and Zach are dating right now? And why can't we count on seeing Ashley again? Is she going through her bitter post-show tantrum that all the cast members seem to go through?

I'm not sure if they're dating since it's hard to tell by Twitter posts. And if you want to know who's likely to do a challenge from San Diego, go to these posts http://vevmo.com/f256/the-real-world-san-diego-la-5755/index38.html#post273674 http://vevmo.com/f256/the-real-world-san-diego-la-5755/index39.html#post274060 http://vevmo.com/f256/the-real-world-san-diego-la-5755/index39.html#post274060 Some of these are assumptions based on what's been said (and may contain slight spoilers for the Real World).
