Behind the Screen: Survivor 43 - Episode Discussion (No Spoilers)

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

I'm really bummed 4 women have gone in a row but I really do appreciate the tribe dynamics between eachother, like the 2 tribes helping eachother and ousting Coco, it builds up for a messy a** merge. I also think a girl will still win this season because of the steamroll for now.

Rooting for Karla and Dwight! <3

Hauserman#245

And cancel this. I'm outtie.

i still dont know everyones names. this episode i learnes who cassidy was

part of this has to do with the fact that that tribe never lost so we rarely saw anything from them to begin with

If I hated it so much I would quit. If this "new era" was the first time I watched I wouldn't have continued. I love the show and invested 22 years into it. I'm disappointed in what Jeff has turned it into though. He ruined All-Winners with gimmicks and twist and then ran with that but also made it a woke Leave It To Beaver. And it's the same every season and stale. I loved last season's cast and the show still has potential. Fans gotta speak up though or Probst is gonna completely kill it. Although he is too narcissistic to listen to fans.

I don't understand what's woke about it. Other than the "come on in guys", there's nothing else that seems would call into that category. The flashback stories are a nice touch to get to know the castaways, I appreciate that for what it is.

TwoStrikes#249

"appreciate that for what it is" - this is the line people don't understand considering they compare new era to all the old era. enjoy the show for what it is now, not what it was back in season 16 etc

No? Why would I be cool with an awful version when they are perfectly capable of still producing a good show?

Woke isn't the right term. They've made it soft, corny, mushy, and wannabe inspirational. I don't care that you watched the show with your family growing up. Just show me that you know the game by playing it. I don't need 18 boring sob stories. I watch reality tv to be entertained, not to wanna be depressed.

I still haven't watched this episode and haven't been supported anything until I hit the read unread and the very first comment spoils who went home lol

TwoStrikes#254

it's not a spoiler when it already aired / that's on you for clicking it before watching the episode lol

timster3#255

I finally watched I enjoyed the episode. For some reason I didn't get a single ad during my Saturday viewing on Paramount plus so this may be my go-to way of watching the show now since I don't have too much of desire to watch it live

timster3#256

I also like that we didn't get any SOB stories this episode. I personally don't mind women going home first none of them were interesting besides the third girl who went home I forgot her name already. For once I actually think the male cast is just as good if not better than the female cast y'all can stay mad though not everything has to be female dominated. Millennials versus Gen X who was a male-dominated merge and all the people of color got out pre-emerge but I surprisingly enjoyed it to the very end.

Challenge 17#257

I highly disagree about the male cast they are either invisible like Ryan or insufferable like gabler Sami and cody. Jesse dwight and owen are just okay and I like James

timster3#258

What makes Cody insufferable??? Y'all hate your own species! Just say that

Flopnanas#259

Cody is single handily saving this tragic boring *** season

WesTracked#260

i think i'm just fatigued.

I think 42 was the peak of this new kind of Survivor. it was legitimately entertaining and captivating from beginning to end so we don't similar set ups again.

Challenge 17#261

He's obnoxious and annoying. I don't get what's hard to understand about it

AshtonMartin#263

Cody is entertaining but he would annoy the hell out of me if I was on the island.

Gucci Mane#264

Yikes after last season I had high hopes but after the first couple episodes I'm just....not into it lol. Idk something feels off.

AshtonMartin#266

I think last season did a good job on making you want a lot of people to potentially win (Omar, Maryanne, Drea, Lindsey,Mike etc)

This season i'm honestly only rooting for Karla, Owen and maybe Jesse, Cassidy

Cody is entertaining but annoying, Noelle is alright but somethings off, Dwight is meh, Jeanine invisible, Elie has potential but all over the place, Sami is alright, Gabler only here still bc of that idol, Ryan is only eye candy, Geo has 0 chance of winning, James is weird

Nany_MTV#267

I'm watching now and Cody is annoying as **** but I did like how he wanted to make the most damage during the raid instead of not ******* everyone off like his tribemates wanted to

Nany_MTV#268

Lmao iconic af @ the red tribe helping the yellow tribe

Challenge 17#269

God I hate these men

amandagarciaisaqueen#270

I know y'all hate this show/season but as a fan still this was a great episode.

I think Ryan might be the dumbest player in a WHILE

Challenge 17#271

This merge is gonna be a mess
