Behind the Screen: The X Factor USA

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

The hosts will apparently be Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. I was kind of looking forward to it until you said that...

The X Factor USA

ILoveRW ·

Is everyone excited for this? The hosts will apparently be Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. The 4 Judges are: Simon Cowell - Ex American Idol Judge. Cheryl Cole - Judge on the British X Factor, was part of the group Girls Aloud but is now a successful worldwide solo act. The other 2 slots are yet to be announced but everyone from Will Smith to Mariah Carey have been rumored. Here is the what is considered the best moment from 7 years of the UK version YouTube - Alexandra Burke & Beyonce Knowles - X Factor - Listen

What a bad choice of hosts. I really hope you are wrong. lol

I don't think this will be as big of a hit here as it is in the UK - we have too many talent shows for people to keep up with. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are the strangest choices for hosts I've heard in a while. Usually it's a comedian or something.

I'm going to watch the first episode or two just to see what it is all about - because of Simon. He was AI and he'll be this show, if it takes off.

When does this air?

It'll be interesting to see how AI does this upcoming season without Simon.

Will Smith and Nicole Scherzinger had signed contracts to appear as judges on the show, However it has yet to be officially announced

Yeah not particularly excited about the hosts, but why can't Zac Efron just do it alone and possibly with no shirt?? ;) Maybe this will be the new American Idol because that seems to be going down the drain in my eyes. It's lost my viewership with the loss of Simon, so there is that sliver of hope in the X Factor for me.

Ugh! Even worse! I'm not even going to talk about Will Smith but Nicole is such a snooze on the Sing Off which she is currently a judge on so nothing to lure me in there. Simon really is the only that will get me to tune in right now.

I think it will do well, if it can get on the celebrities that the UK version gets on then people are bound to watch. For example performing this weekend on the UK show there is Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Cher, Robbie Williams & Will.I.Am.

I don't get why Nicole is a judge. She's not entertaing or relevant. I'll giver her the benefit of the doubt just because Simon must have seen something in her if he chose her.

She was a guest judge this summer on the British show because Dannii Minogue was off having a baby and Cheryl Cole was dying from Malaria. Its fair to say that she and Katy Perry were the best out of all the guest judges and you could tell Simon loved her. My only problem with her is that being a judge on the X Factor you have to fight for your acts and she doesn't seem to be much of a fighter.

Do people really think Will is that bad? Sad... And I disagree, Nicole is a very intricate part of The Sing Off. I like her more there than on DWTS.

Best Moment? Yeah right. Predictable. I liked it better when Leona Lewis and JLS won.

Judges and Hosts confirmed Judges: Simon Cowell L.A. Reid - Music Producer Cheryl Cole - British singer and X Factor UK judge Paula Abdul Hosts: Nicole Scherzinger - The lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls Steve Jones - British presenter. Probably best known for presenting T4, a daytime show for teenagers.

Steve Jones - British presenter. Probably best known for presenting T4, a daytime show for **************] Not to mention a string of crap gameshows/Reality shows (101 ways to leave a gameshow, Awful amazing race ripoff 'The Drop Zone', cancelled in the USA but aired in the UK 'When women ruled the world')

I hope she has as much success over here as she has in the UK! I'm sure Paula will be as cooky as ever! :)

I am not sure if L.A King was the way to go. He should have went for a big name.

Yeah one was a really young girl named Ma'ot or something like that who sung "Go put your records on" and the other was a rocker looking emo guy. The preview didn't show much beside the usual American Idol-style sob story

I believe you too. They always got to have some sob story. It's very formulaic. I'm still gonna check it out though. Hopefully Leona Lewis guest stars for a week.

I was planning on watching, but being it is up against Survivor I'll have to pass - at least on the first hour.

I switched over after Survivor and that guy Gio should seriously heed the message of "Pants on the Ground"
