Behind the Screen: The Real World: Portland - Marlon Williams

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

So excited to see this dude represent Lubbock Edit :I just found out we have a mutual friend, she said he has a temper...

Looks like he and Tyrie know eachother. Possibly familymembers...

I think they just started to communicate because they were both on RW. Most cast members from older seasons start welcoming the new kids to the family before their season airs. But you never know..

No, usually before. Some of them actually start communicating during the finals of casting. I imagine that it doesn't take much to send a message saying "I'm on the show. wish me luck" to an alumni.

Tyrie could have found out through this website. A lot of the cast members read through this website and Tyrie has even posted before.

When Tyrie said "Hey fam", the first thing I thought of was him now being part of the Real World family.

He does! Maybe his stroy line will be that he has 99 problems, and they're all *****es.
Legend#13
I can see him being the chill, Leroy-esque castmember (except for the fighting...).
Nostalgic#14
Why is it all the brothers get compared to Leroy, lmao.

Lol. On top of that, Marlon has been described as being everything but "chill"

Leroy was the best AA male since the Hollywood season. He was just so down to earth & relatable & I think for the next few seasons every black guy will be compared to him.

This is going to be interesting! Wreck 'em Tech.

More like best AA since the LV1 Alton. I didn't like Will, Nick, or that other dude.

Hell no, Preston is the best AA of all time. The way he kept everyone in check by ******* on their toothbrushes. Man makes all the other AA look like SA.

This conversation needs to stop about who is the "best" African American. I find it offensive that you think urinating on other peoples toothbrushes qualifies him the "best" of my race. What does this all have to do with Marlon, anyway? These post should be removed.

My comment was intentionally ridiculous, to point out how the whole conversation was ridiculous /facepalm Thought it was obvious. guess not. Oh and SA stands for Samoan Americans.

Well I'm black & I wasn't offended by the comments. The AA males typically suck on the Real World so seeing someone like Leroy was extremely refreshing.

I actually liked Nick, Will & that d-bag from Hollywood all for different reasons though.

That is such bull****. Other than Slapping Steven and Stephen from Denver the black guys are actually pretty cool. Not just Leroy, you know...

Will and that other d-bag (Hollywood) Jasmine (Cancun) Ty (DC) Preston (NOLA) Naomi (LV) and now Swift All of them were lame. Leroy was the only refreshing African American in the past few seasons. Devyn has also proven to be cool based on the Challenge lol

I'm sorry but that list is still sad and pathetic.

What exactly are you guys using to determine what makes someone the "best" or "coolest" African American on the show? It depends on exactly what you individually like about someone, ya know? Like if you like someone who is honest but chill, then I'd say Leroy, Brandon, and Will are the "best" in that category. If you like someone who is brash, candid, and keeps it "real", then you might go with Tyrie, Stephen from Denver, Presto and Jasmine. Even though they're all the same race, everyone is different..which is why I'm not understanding why people are pooling them together.. I don't know much about Marlon, or Jay as one of my friends calls him, but from what our friend from school has said is that he's not a very chill person a lot of the time. He has a temper, but is fun to be around. The most accurate comparison would probably be Tyrie.

All a matter of opinion. Jasmine was nuts on her season. Clinging to a guy who played up the cameras, drinking alcohol and then smashing things. Ty was, in my opinion, just annoying on his season. He's alright on the Challenges. Preston is self-explanatory. Naomi was obnoxious. Acting like she was hard because she was from the Bronx. And Swift was ridiculous. Playing up a persona for the cameras to get air time.

I say best and "coolest" as down to earth, not playing up a character for the cameras, and not having an overly-large ego. Leroy is the only contender in the past few years. Preston wasn't real. He was over-dramatic for a reason, same with Tyrie and Jasmine; unless they're all just extremely sensitive.
