Behind the Screen: The Real World: Ding Dong the Bitch is Dead!

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

I have to agree PN that if Ashli's mom thinks it is rough to watch now, just wait. Then again, her mom was the one who got her to apply for this depravitous fest so who knows how she will react to seeing her daughter ******* it up with a taken man.
Also, does anyone know how much these people actually do make on the challenges?
Casts don't usually talk money so this is a hard one to answer. I have heard that they get SAG rates + winnings from different events. This is around $1000 a week + all the cash you get at the end if you make it that far. If we look at Road Rules as an example we know the rookies got $500 a week and the veterans $2000 a week, so this sliding pay scale might also come into play on the challenges.
Also, Bacchus, do you know if it's pretty rare that someone would turn them down if they were invited on one?
I guess they get turned down all the time. That is why we end up with our group of usual suspects which is newer cast members and challenge junkies that MTV feels has name recognition and will draw viewers.
And is there resentment from other cast past cast members who have not been invited?
Resentment amongst the fabulous group of winners that MTV casts for these shows? NEVER! Hahaha. I would not call it resentment. When MTV was casting for Road Rules, Rachel Robinson from Campus Crawl was on the short list but because Veronica was already on the cast, Rachel was not included. It would have just been unfair for both of them to be on the RV with their close relationship based on the voting dynamics of that season. Rachel was disappointed as she really wanted to do Road Rules again, but not resentful. I'll bet that scenario plays out to some extent with each challenge.

"Sometimes, when I watch now, I can't believe some of the things I said when I was partying," said Robson. "But it's kind of good to see yourself like that. I've grown up a lot," said Robson, who turns 20 in December. I bet she is talking about the slutduck lips she does when she is drunk.
