Behind the Screen: The Duel 2: Episode 5 - Discussion

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Haha aww, don't worry there are still many Evan haters around here. And as much as I want to dislike him, his commentary as of late is really making me laugh...

And who doesn't like a good looking Canadian? ;) Don't worry, if he has any part of backstabbing Landon or Mark my Evan love as of late will surely disintegrate.

Why wouldn't she? BMP invited her to be in this cast, so of course she is interested. Kind of hard to go on a challenge when you are 8 months pregnant though. She has a whole bunch of friends on the cast, too.

What I mean is it surprises me that she still keeps up with the show considering what happened to her on G3 - she and Coral both were treated horribly so the fact that she would even consider another challenge is quite commendable and respectable.

I think I may throw up! But I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To me he is just as attractive as Eric - ok I really am making myself sick so g2g.

Oh, after G3, I think Beth has something along the order of "payback" in mind for a few people. I miss her episode blogs. She did mention that she knows there is a still hidden alliance. Crap has happened to her on every challenge. She is used to it. She said she would love to be there to be the one to blow up the list crap. She would be the one organizing the coup.

Gotta love beth, i wished she was on the duel 2 and give all the girls a run for their money.
ViewRam90#248
Not fair a lot of my favorite cast members have been leaving early Brooke, Katie, Ruthie and Isaac.
tatertots#249
Man, I wish Beth had been there to spice things up! All the girls just seem to be following their partners and not making moves of their own :(

At Bunim Murray, sometimes the left and right hand don't communicate...

Oy vey...that's sad. You would think with all of the gossip that goes on they would realize that she was pregnant! Shows how much they care...
CrazyRealityGuy#253
Beth is an MTV/Challenge star. Love her or hate her everyone talks about her. I respect her, because she doesn't mind to change things up, at all. She always brings the Drama. There hasn't been one challenge where a fight/drama hasn't centered around her!
Dartagnan#254
I have to comment on Isaac: I think he is hilarious. Enough said. That toenail, though, was disgusting. But props for calling out Landon.

Beth actually met with three of BMP's top executives while she was pregnant. Perhaps no one told the challenge executive producer.

It was really weird seeing Brad and Tori acting as a real couple or fiances on this episode. It's weird because it's rare that you see couples actually being nice to each other even though they argued this episode. It just feels strange, but cool at the same time. (We didn't get much interaction between Danny and Melinda except when they fought for that 1 episode on G3, and Johanna and Wes just fought the whole time on FM, and I don't remember much from Randy and Kina from G2. I guess you could say CT and Diem on Duel 1 was different because they weren't actually dating yet.) And who said Isaac was the smallest guy on this cast? I'm pretty sure he's a lot bigger then Adam. And a small thing that I noticed is that Brad and Randy were on RW together and Tori and Kina were on RR together, and Brad and Randy are friends (I'm assuming) and Tori and Kina are too.

But Adam isn't on the cast.

This is the quote I remember, "CT got into an altercation with Isaac, the smallest guy on the cast." Meaning, if CT was there, Adam was there. So this was before CT and Adam were kicked off.

Issac is shorter than Adam King. I do think he is taller than "Hollywood" Dave, but then so is 98% of the population.

Isaac makes up for his hight by his humorous personality!!!

There is no question that Isaac was definitely a favorite with the cast members. He was one everyone genuinely hated to see leave. Some rumors have surfaced in recent days that there was considerable controversy about the Landon vs. Issac duel. More later when I'm able to second source some info.
GoldenWarrior#262
Isaac can be off the wall at times and it is hilarious. And that is interesting about controversy...can't wait to hear that.

Ooh..can't wait to hear the details!

Well, Danny and Wes have been known to behave like complete jerks on a number of occasions, IMO, just based on what we have seen of them on RW Austin and challenges. So it's not surprising that they've had nasty fights with their girlfriends/fiances to me. Danny also seemed controlling of Melinda at times (i.e. him worrying about what Melinda was wearing on Fresh Meat, what Rachel said about Danny on their reunion show, etc). I think Brad and Tori seemed to be conscious of being filmed and didn't want to really get into a huge argument. I don't blame them at all because I would have probably tried to do the same thing. You could tell Brad was getting a little riled up when he was saying Tori was not making sense, and Tori kept her composure and calmly told him he was being disrespectful. And he was saying they'd talked about it for two days already, so he seemed ready to drop it again. In general just from watching the show I get a different impression of Brad & Tori as a couple than I did with Danny & Melinda and Wes & Johanna (at least early stage), so I am not surprised to see they kept it at least more respectable. Some couples like mutually screaming and being verbally abusive to each other during arguments, though (i.e. Flora and Mitchell during RW Miami), and it's just how they deal with things.

I'm not sure if anyone asked this yet, but did they use the same location for this challenge during Road Rules South Pacific? I think they had a challenge where one person was held over the edge of the cliff, and another person had to jump into their arms. If I recall correctly, the Roadies actually lost this mission, and it occurred shortly after Abe was kicked off. Either way, was this the same place they had the RR: South Pacific challenge?

Well, I am not sure but rwrrvids.ning.com posted the South Pacific season so you can check there.
