I hate how people in lead roles (like Rush and the girl from True Grit) get nominated for supporting actor/actress.

Yeah, I agree with you, especially in light of Nicole Kidman getting a lead actress nod. IMO opinion she is such a bad actress that she couldn't even play herself well.

I think all your wishes are going to come true. The King Speech is going to win Best Picture ughh. I hate the academy! They never pick popular films! I wanted either The Social Network, Toy Story 3, Inception, or Black Swan to win. I King Speech was sooooooooooooo boring!!!! I went to sleep during the film.

ACTRESS-Natalie Portman ACTOR-Jesse Eisenberg or James Franco SUP ACTOR-Christian Bale SUP ACTRESS-Amy Adams (Should've have been Mila Kunis though) PICTURE-Black Swan or 127 Hours. Anything but the king's speech. It's a perfect cure for insomnia or great for someone who likes being slowly bored to death .

I'm all for Oscar night because it's hands down my favorite awards show (which could totally be the Film minor in me), so I guess I'll tell you what I think will win. Being at home sick on a Saturday night will do this to me... I am pretty sure you will be wrong about that one. National Geographic is pushing hard for Restrepo, and it chronicled the deployment in which one of the soldiers become the first living recipient of the Medal of Honor since Vietnam.

I agree that Restrepo is an amazing film, but the vegas odds are not in its favor. Here is what you are looking at should you decide to book some action on the 2011 Best Documentary:

The Inside Job is a relatively small favorite at -220 odds, requiring a $22 bet to win $10. It is about the financial meltdown that occurred between the years 2007 and 2010. Exit Through The Gift Shop came in with odds of +300 or 3/1 for a payout potential of $30 on every $10 bet. It is a film directed by Banksy that tells the story of Thierry Guetta, a French immigrant in Los Angeles, and his obsession with street art. Gasland came in with +990 odds and would pay out $99 for every $10 bet, which is a pretty odd number we might add. The film explores communities in the United States impacted by natural gas drilling, and more specifically hydraulic fracturing. Wasteland came in with +660 odds, or nearly 7/1. It is about Brazilian trash-pickers and an artist who changed their lives. Restrepo would pay $100 on a $10 bet. Crash won by default because they weren't ready to give it to Brokeback and I think the votes for Capote and Good Night, and Good Luck canceled each other out.

I think Crash winning was the biggest reason the Academy eventually went with IRV (which interestingly enough gave us Hurt Locker as its first award winner.) Nate Silver (uber stats guy) thinks The Social Network will win because of it. It's a good read (although it was done over a month ago and the landscape has changed somewhat over that time.)

I just saw Natalie Portman on E! She totally knows she has it in the bag. It will be interesting to see her response when she wins.

I like James Franco & Anne Hathaway, but I'm not a big fan of "host by committee" and honestly, I think John Stewart should be the host every year...

Man these speeches are going on wayyy too long. Kirk Douglas had some funny bits but it took way too long to get that award out. They can start playing the finish up music anytime now.
