Behind the Screen: Streaming Giants - General Discussion

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

I watched a couple of episodes of "13 Reasons Why" and they were all hilarious from start to finish. Funniest series I've seen since forever...

Dear white people does not talk down to white People lol

I'm on the 3rd episode right now and  it's pretty good. Episode two in particular is hilarious and it has nothing to do with white people.

the main premise of the show is about white students on campus hosting a blackface party but there's other things going on with the characters.

Idk if If I can handle a show like 13 Reasons why, as I'm such a moody person but I'll go ahead and tune in. I'm sure it would have much of an affect on me.

I never ever watch scripted tv but recently watched 13 Reasons why & half way into Dear white People.

13 Reasons just isn't the show for me. I honestly didn't feel any pain at all until the part where she actually slit her wrists in the bath tub which was gory. Besides that, the episodes were dragged out way too long, I wasn't bored... but I wanted to just skip through to the end. But it doesn't help that I knew spoilers so nothing shocked me or kept me wanting more.

Dear White People is hilarious. Episode 5 was INTENSE and so real, I had tears rolling down my face watching it. Everyone needs to watch that episode. People would assume the show is about hating white people but it's really about watching a black college students face racism & react to it differently and often have conflict with each other. It really gets you thinking.

The cinematography, the stylist choice of transitions, music, narraration, all add to how great Dear White People is. It has a healthy balance of satire and comedy while still maintaing grounded prevents undermining real issues yet making them palatable and fun for people unawre of them.

What's funny about this series ? Well so far I have only watched 4 episodes, and they have all been unintentionally hilarious and pure comedy gold. The awful acting mixed with the terrible dialogue make for one hell of a show. It is also fun watching the many contradictions and plot holes occur.

Also, their failed attempt at tackling "real" issues, is quite laughable based on what I've seen so far. Overall it is a fantastic series that I'm definitely going to commit to.

Yeah, maybe he wasn't serious.

i watched the first episode and I'm totally not into this girls story as much as I'm interested in the male protagonist and him dealing with the tapes.

Anyways

Guys was iron fist any good ? I probably will end up watching it but just curious. As a fan of what marvel is doing on Netflix I feel obligated to watch everything. I can't stand the actress who is the lead in agents of shield but still watch. Just trying to see where to rank Iron Fist on my list of shows I need to watch.

It was alright, but probably the worst of all defenders. Marvel Netlfix suffers from just wearing itself thin per season. Choreography for Iron Fist wasn;'t that great either.

You'll probably want to watch it before August. (thats when The Defenders releases.)

Challengefan22#226

Thanks guys and I'm so freaking excited for the defenders!. Hopefully the punisher shows up on that season because Jonny bernthal is killing that role!.

Challengefan22#227

Just finished watching Iron Fist and the trailer for The Defenders!. I am so freaking ready for August to get here!!.

final season of Bloodline out today.. gah i have to catch up on season 2. so pumped for House of Cards season 5 next tuesday!!! currently watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3 and just finished Riverdale and 13 Reasons Why. Netflix.... you are killing my social life with all of these releases. please stopppp ahaha

Esquire#229

Bloodlines season 2 is not worth it, they completely misread who peope would be interested in seeing/learning more about.  Also unbreakable really wasn't that good this year, too much focus on Titus and Lillian, who are better supporting characters.  Riverdale and 13 Reasons were legit though.

anon4981298798#230

Okay, but the trailer for Adi Shankar's Castlevania.

anon4981298798#231

I wish Netflix would obtain the rights to Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The two greatest cartoons of all time. Korra was a masterpiece we were not worthy of.

And the rumors (and an April Fools prank) of a third series called The Twin Legends... Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh **** me.

shboogies#232

Is there a Hulu thread? Cause

The Handmaid's Tale.

Amazing.

I want a third entry so bad. Korra was AMAZING especially the 2nd season explaining the origins of the avatar. I know where both full series are at if you want to watch it btw

The last 2 seasons were pretty terrible though imo.

Sense8 has been cancelled.

and on the first day of pride month... what the honest ****, netflix?? so disappointed. even more disappointed that they did a terrible job advertising is and no one watched it, while it being one of the most creative/diverse/lgbtq-friendly series on tv.. and also a kick-*** sci-fi adventure. Also leaving it on a huuuge *** cliffhanger really sucks. netflix i'm so sad. i hope they give it another movie or something.. at least have the decency for closure.

Yeah, they definitely need to do something to end it properly. Its a real shame considering how much it improved as well.
