Ryan Murphy is at it again. From the creator of Popular, Nip/Tuck, Glee, and American Horror Story comes a new genre-bending show sure to turn more than a few heads over its blatant offensiveness and over the topness. A love letter to the many slashers of the 80s, Scream Queens (Premiering TONIGHT at 8/7c) is what you would get if you threw the one-liners and *****iness of Heathers with the self aware dark humor of Scream into a blender without the lid on. It is a beautiful hot mess, with over the top campy acting by a cast of very familiar faces and a devil-masked killer sure to keep viewers guessing. Lead by Emma Roberts, the HBIC of Kappa Kappa Tau, and the ultimate 80s Scream Queen, Jamie Lee Curtis, the dean of the university.. all hell breaks loose when the girls and boys of the school's Greek Row begin to die off one by one.
"Wallace University is rocked by a string of murders. Kappa House, the most sought-after sorority for pledges, is ruled with an iron fist (in a pink glove) by its Queen *****, Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts). But when anti-Kappa Dean Cathy Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) decrees that sorority pledging must be open to all students, and not just the school's silver-spooned elite, all hell is about to break loose, as a devil-clad killer begins wreaking havoc, claiming one victim, one episode at a time. Part black comedy, part slasher flick, SCREAM QUEENS is a modern take on the classic whodunit, in which every character has a motive for murder... Or could easily be the next blood-soaked casualty."
Ryan Murphy has been known for creating awesome first seasons (his later ones not so much... ala Glee, Nip/Tuck, AHS), so I am definitely excited for this!! I love everything over the top, and if it's anything like the "I Know What You Did Last Spring Break" episode from Popular, this will be GOLD.
And if you were interested in knowing more about that Popular episode (cause I know you all are :P):
I heard such great things about this. I'm definitely not missing it...
