Behind the Screen: Road Rules Revival- 2021 (Paramount +)

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

I wish I could find it now but I read a comment about a week ago explaining that basically rob was gonna leave mtv and since jersey shore was gone, they needed a show to "pull in ratings" so they asked rob to do ridiculousnessHe agreed only if his production company could do it, so he makes bank. Now because its relatively cheap to make and "appeals to all audiences", its a "hit" for mtv.

That makes sense and all but I'm sorry, that STILL doesn't explain the entire chokehold that show has on that network to be playing nonstop, so Rob must have some dirt. It would make more sense to play reruns of jersey shore and their hit shows instead

Who watch that show? I can find funnier videos on Tik Tok on my own

Tvandcoffee#308

Tbh...I think its the people with low IQs in middle America. The few times Ive seen people defend that show being on nonstop, they fit that demographic. Which if theyre too simple to figure out youtube to watch the same content, why are we dedicating majority of the progamming to that one show?? I cant think of any other channel plays the same show for 75% of the airtime. Asinine.

AshtonMartin#309

I honestly think if they advertised it a Real World rerun marathon would probably bring in viewers tbh

I've been saying for a long time that they need to replay old episodes of classics like RW, RR, The Challenge golden era, Room Raiders, Next, Singled Out, Newlyweds, Laguna Beach, etc. I think it could have a similiar success like The Office with the younger generation.

Hauserman#311

Room Raiders and Next were so much fun!

Flopnanas#312

So did they even attempt at all to reboot this shit

CosmicDiva#313

Who wants to storm the capitol with me over this.

CosmicDiva#314

I'll never forgive them for this.

OS Kajun#317

same.

I wonder if their plans for all stars, the world challenges, and still doing the flagship was what ended up having them ultimately decide not to.

they realized that the same RR people they wanted on All Stars / Global & the flagship were the same people they would cast here so it's no point -- they wasn't bringing back obscure names and they know they poorly cast newbies so it'll flop
