MTV's Growing Up MOB

(Formerly "Made In Staten Island", Mob Island, Staten Island: 10310)

The series is produced by Mob Wives (VH1) own Karen Gravano and Adam Gonzalez. The series has strong ties to the Mob Wives franchise. Since the green light back in April, we finally have more news! - Taking place on a suburban island right next to NYC. Watch as a group of friends return home from college & deal with real life issues. Its reportedly going to be a grittier-urban version of 'Siesta Key', MTV's recent breakout teen-friendly docu-drama about young adults navigating through life. They have been filming since January 2018 & are rumored to stop production on season 1 this summer.  

Varitey.com reported 

MTV will head to “Staten Island 10310” in August to following a group of young adults in the New York City borough that has a small town feel despite its proximity to the nation’s largest urban center. Staten Island’s population is famously a mix of law enforcement and firefighters with those involved in less-than-legal occupations. “In many ways, life on the island has such a different texture than the rest of New York,” McCarthy said. “We get to see another side of these kids who are very scrappy.” The show hails from MTV Studios.

The series is slated to premiere Jan 14th 2019!

I feel like it won’t be as scripted as Siesta Key is, more like Floribama Shore.... but they all aren’t living in the same house. I’m excited for this, the people look like they’ll cause some drama.

All I had to hear is that it's connected to Mob Wives and I'm instantly interested. Surprised it's not on VH1 instead though, seems like it would be a better fit there.

They'll probably cancel it within two episodes if the numbers aren't right to them. If it's a moderate success I could see MTV still ******* with it unlike VH1.

Okay am I mistaken or didn't MTV already do this show? I feel like there was a girl who worked at a bar and I remmeber them being at a beach and getting into a fight but I cant remember any of the names of the girls or anything.

You're probably thinking of Siesta Key, that's in Florida. This is New York &  seems like it could be similar but less "classy".

I know it was a show based in the New York/Jersey area I used to watch it, they only went to the beach for one episode I should have clarified that. This was several years ago, maybe early to mid 2000's (I think I used to watch it in HS which would have been 2004-2008).  I wish I could rmemeber more but ever since this show has been announced its been bothering me that I can't remember the one I used to watch. Pretty sure it was one of those shows that only got one season

I dont think i can handle that many staten island accents on a show. I feel like at least 2 of them will play up the accent as much as possible.
