i think there's an MTV live thing if you go on the site. 

From the recent posts hey said to use Xfinity and login with Facebook or twitter. We can watch online together:)

Go to MTV.com and click “watch tv live” and if it asks for a cable provider, click xfinity and you can just log in with social media without having to actually prove you have cable.
