Darrell is a legacy character. He's earned his spot and is allowed to be a background character. Background characters are necessary and he fills his role perfectly. Unlike Kasey he has charisma and humor. I know for a fact he is providing more than Tory bouncing on Jordan's back being a cringe tryhard, but production prefers rehearsed, played out, and fake storylines over actual entertaining footage. Darrell is king.

I agree with all of this sadly. Still 100% needed more than anyone associated with the vacation alliance though. 

Have he and Brad competed together in All Stars?  I ask because obviously Brad was drunk in the Ruins and he tried to get in a fight with Darrell but the latter knocked him to the floor with a bloody eye and both had to leave.  As far as that episode's After Show, looked like they definitely put the incident behind them since they handled it in the beginning with Brad in the stage talking and Darrell watching on a monitor backstage and then they invited Darrell to say hi to Brad and they hugged it out.  I could imagine the duo being a powerhouse duo alliance if they did compete together.
