Behind the Screen: The Challenge: What Could Have Been (SPOILERS)

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Would that have just made the Kenny/Evan alliance even stronger than it actually was lol.

personally i dont see Kenny/Evan putting up with the two of them together, and as a result i feel like we'd see Cara/Susie pulling some Inferno 3 type moves

Evan/Kenny & Derrick would have--John would have been thrown to the wolves though

Do we know who the champ was that dropped out of The Ruins? Wes wasn't actually going to be on he said no at first but someone dropped so he came back

Wasn't it Alton?

That was my guess but I have no idea probably worked out better to have Wes otherwise that season is totally unforgettable

I would have loved a Real World Hollywood team with Will, Nick, Brianna and Brittini.

Nick!?!?

I don't know which male was dropped, but Cara Zavaleta was supposed to be on then backed down and Susie replaced her.

I feel so many things could have made the Ruins better:I wish the Challenger girls side would have been Kellyanne, Brianna, Kim, Sarah, Diem, Baya, and Devyn. Would have been nice to not have Shauvon and Casey ******* things up for the challengers team and would have made the competition side of the show more interesting. Also wish Brad hadn't gotten into a fight with Darrell. Good TV but I knew the Challengers were done for.Tonya not being on there at all and getting the help she needed would have been a better deal overall for her.

ViewRam90#462

Or when the challengers were dumb enough not to put Casey instead of Brianna, I know their team sucked but come on they were also not the smartest crayons on the box. The challengers needed stronger members tho.

The Ruins is the one season that would have benefited from being able to switch teams if you win an elimination. Ev takes out every girl champ imo and Wes takes out everyone except for Darrell and Evan and even those would be close

A Wes/Eve/Sarah/KA win would've been satisfying

That was their biggest mistake. Not saying losing Casey would have been the deciding factor but I think a few things might have gone down differently later down the road and they might have had a chance.

Susie was never about "woman power" regardless of what she says on social, she did what the boys told her to on the ruins. If she was about female empowerment she would have said that "the man in the sand" gets to pick who they go into elimination with, regardless of gender. The true challenge suffragettes are Coral, Rachel, and Veronica.

But she knew Casey was throwing challenges leaving the power in their hands.  Susie sees the big picture.   Susie wasn't necessarily for female empowerment but she had control on I3 and The Ruins--almost no women have had power since.

If Susie was really about female empowerment, she would've thrown the final. Sarah said that her and Susie and KellyAnne had discussed it because none of them wanted JEK and Derrick to win.

No one should ever throw a final--this logic doesn't even make sense.  Plus Evan, Derrick & Kenny were good to her.   I'm tired of people hating on Susie because she worked with them which was the best game move for her.  If KellyAnne doesn't take 6 hours on a balance beam they win--blame KellyAnne not Susie.

Also, female empowerment doesn't exist if you need someone to throw something for you to win

The issue I was referring to is sending in Evelyn against Kelly Anne, "the man in the sand gets to pick". Its disgusting that she backed up the men with THAT rationale. That the men get to decide who they go against AND decide who the women go against. I have no respect for her for that.

What?  That was best for her lol. It was HER plan

Its how it happend, if it was her plan that makes it worse. To have a different set of rules for men and women in the game makes my skin crawl and its one of the many reasons I don't watch seasons in the JEK era...except cutthroat and the Duel II. I can handle those.

Susie had more control on that team than anyone. She doesn't owe Evelyn (who has never been pro women) or KellyAnne anything. Susie was playing HER game. And not allowing Evelyn or Veronica to pick their opponents was great gameplay for HER not the boys. Susie defined female empowerment on Inferno 3 and The Ruins. She only cared about her (and Cara's) game. It's strategy not about "building up women who don't care about you"

I agree. I'm not faulting Susie for doing what she had to do to win just like I didn't blame Ev on the Island. I think just knowing everything that we know now, we all just wish people would do everything to screw over JEK and their toxic selves lol.

And oh yeah, I forgot about KellyAnne taking forever on the beam. She really killed every portion of the final except that lol so frustrating. In her defense, she did kill everything else and even solved a puzzle that Sarah couldn't I read.

Completely agree--KellyAnne was amazing in the final until the beam.   It would have been an amazing win.

I also rewatched G3 recently and Evelyn was all about throwing female missions to get rid of Katie Coral and others--Susie owed her nothing at all.

thedefiantwolf#476

totally agree with the above Susie owed her nothing Evelyn has always been way more one of the boys than she was one of the girls *sips tea* Wink but joking/conspiracy theories aside Evelyn always knew she was the best girl when she was on a season and that she could keep up, if not be better than majority of the dudes.....the champs couldve in theory thrown Evelyn into every girls elim and she probably would have won every single one

Susie is one of the most despicable people off the show in my opinion, she is literally a liberal female version of Trump. But you can't take credit away from her for being the best female political player to ever play the game whether you like her moves or not.

couldnt have said it better myself, as a fan of the show i can appreciate her as a gameplayer, but cant stand her as a person

Personally I think Evelyn is the most overrated female challenger. Her era was full of weak ****.
