She may never have a backbone when it comes to Zach... she's just that kind of girl that falls too hard or wants to just please the person she's with, but at least we're seeing her get a backbone against people who cross her and Zach.

I don't know what happened on the challenge though. She was a tire ahead of Theo/Cara and somehow lost. I don't think she realized how significant is was that she won that third spot. Her and Zach would've been safe and had power if she did.
