Behind the Screen: The Challenge: Vets & New Threats - Ratings

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Just from a money stand point I don't get how they can't look in the past, see that the drama is what sold the show and actual personalities and doing a shorter season got cast members more willing to come back.  Season 40 and All Stars were refreshing with the old school players because they have actual personalities and didn't come off as fake as the newbies imo, but that aside the episodes were 30 min with commercials, had drama, a challenge, an elimination and the cast looked like they were having fun cause they had freedoms.  Spend less on exotic locations & stunt challenges and go back to the basics. It's what made the show successful. Save money and cut filming time too.

season 40 was not refreshing it was garbage

Tina yelling at John in the trailer was the only entertaining part of that tragic season.

Did they even air that?

No. That is my point. Nothing good happened all season. One of their most boring seasons andn they still edited out entertaining drama

the format of s40 allowed 90% of the cast to literally not have to do anything each week.

one of the most horribly stale last halves i've ever seen. half the time one of the targets won & another got last, so the third was automatically going in. then we had to watch 45 mins of "strategy" despite knowing the matchup.

then awful rachel was handed a win at the end to put the cherry on top of the most embarrassing "monumental" season of all time.

absolutely horrendous. 41 has been such an improvement

And Pinkrose reported during filming that production loved the format and thought it was amazing. Just goes to show how out of touch and stupid they truly are.

Sportsman180#340

Yeah the format of 40 was horrendous and actively prevented interesting gameplay.

well it was the first season since 30 I really enjoyed (liked parts of 31 & 32 - mainly Marie) .  Even though some favs went home home wayyyy to early, 40 was the best flagship in years for me. Mainly because of the cast

Season 40 was the worst season in years

not to me. But to each their own - I do wish the format was different a bit and even though I was happy to see Paulie leave immediately from the game, I hated the purge.

Season 40 was the worst season in years

Not the worst, but it was bad.

37 and the first 2/3rds of 39 were definitely worse than 40.

Episode 14: 270K live viewers with a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demo.

Nice 12-15% bump up from the past few weeks in the overall viewership! Especially with the World Series eating 15 million viewers at the exact same time.

Survivor also lost the 100k viewers they had gained the last couple of weeks.

How many TVs do you turn on at your home at once to achieve these mfruitfly numbers?

Hey, I give The Challenge all the credit this season. Positive word of mouth is keeping the fanbase together. This is such a good season.

CosmicDiva#353

It's like my posts immediately trigger the censorship on this site. PinkRose do you get a notification each time I curse on a post like a lady of the night that doesn't give a fruitfly?

Pink, you’re going viral on Twitter that tweet is getting more views than all the episodes combined this season. Promote the challenge on it.
