Behind the Screen: The Challenge: Vets & New Threats - Ratings

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Who is still getting catfished in 2025?

Who is still getting catfished in 2025?

old people apparently...I saw one version of catfish where a divorced man thought he was dating **** star teanna trump and sent her money because she messaged him and told him she left the industry cause she didn't wanna sell her soul so they froze her assets and she needed his money to survive. Turns out it was some Nigerian man scamming him the whole time...

AI has probably made it easier than its been in years tbh

GoldenRing#307

Oh AI is definitely going to make catfish relevant again, there were ways to get around it for awhile but a lot of people can't distinguish obvious AI videos.

And honestly it was one that got me until she ate some chicken and her hand went through her mouth. Fecal is only getting harder to spot.

Which is why its so funny that catfish just got canceled right before it could have been relevant again

Theyll probably revive the concept and center it around AI related scams a few years down the line.

And since MTV probably won't be here someone else will take it.

They cast people from big brother and survivor which gets 5 million viewers but the ratings never jump lol

Episode 11: 236K live viewers with a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demo.

Jesus, that's a drop.

There was a lot of playoff baseball on this Wednesday...but Survivor GAINED 200k viewers this week vs Episodes 1 and 2.

We're never getting rid of CT, are we?

Dreamdoll#312

The ratings are so inconsistent

Flopnanas#313

To compare season 39 battle for a new champion got 450k for its 11th episode... yikes 236k is awful

derp1987#314

that...is rough. Hopefully it bumps back next week so they don't think the dip is solely because of ct leaving

Flopnanas#315

bad ratings, paying 40 castmembers appearance fees, paying tj, a million dollar prize, staying in a mansion, creating all these challenges like how are they still making a profit these days? Are the sponsors that good

How many shows on MTV get those ratings?   Even with all of those costs it's cheaper than most things.

mtv has like 3 shows in total... catfish got higher ratings and was cancelled and that show is pennies compared to the challenge to produce

Ratings were exactly the same as last week

There's no playoff baseball this upcoming Wednesday thankfully, and the World Series Game 5 is the week after. From November on they just have to deal with Survivor.

Episode 13: 242K live viewers with a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demo.

Slight bump in overall viewer, slight drop in the demo.

It's been incredibly consistent the last three weeks. This is life vs. Survivor.

Survivor, annoyingly, and despite another bad start to a season, is gaining viewers. About another 100k this week.

Find a way to sabotage Survivor by Wednesday night. STAT!

It's not just cause of Survivor. The seasons are so long and there's no way to catch up so when people get behind they just stop watching. It's a long season with long episodes, and the poor editing and high school level production value can't retain fans for 24 weeks. When you edit out so much drama and it's nearly 45 minutes of boring and unappealing missions, you are losing fans. I don't even like Survivor anymore but I flipped over cause even that is better than watching people stack hay for nearly an hour.

Flopnanas#325

survivor puts their episode on the cbs website for FREE like 3 hours after the show finishes airing why cant the challenge

I'm way higher on this season than you guys, I guess lol. I think it's pretty damn good.

They need to figure out the next day streaming fecal yesterday, though. You're right there.

Sportsman180#328

Also, Survivor is a major impact. The show averaged 350k through September 10th. It's averaged 258k since.

Next day streaming + airing on Tuesdays would've meant Season 41 maintaining a min of an extra 50 to 75k viewers throughout the entire season, maybe a good bit more.

The season isn't terrible. The cast is good. We've just seen drama in the trailers get cut. We've heard about drama that got cut. But instead of getting that good stuff we are getting way too long missions that just haven't been entertaining to watch in my opinion. I'm also a visual person and the cheap confessional filter and aesthetic make it hard for me to watch. It's middle school computer class project quality.

PinkRose#330

I feel like seasons are way to long at this point I don't even like anyone because of how long they are

Sportsman180#331

I feel like that's accurate but if they're giving them a 19 episode count, they're gonna use it.

USA2 was 14 episodes and it felt like almost the perfect length. I would've like a 2 part final. So I think the sweet spot is approx. 15-16 episodes. If the final was starting this or next week, it would feel normal. Cast of 34, double eliminations + 2 part final is 15 episodes.
