Behind the Screen: The Challenge: Vets and New Threats - Jonna Mannion

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

She got screw this season if it wasn't for Gabe, she would made it way deeper. LOL That's not true...

The Challenge: Vets and New Threats - Jonna Mannion

She got screw this season if it wasn't for Gabe, she would made it way deeper.

LOL That's not true.

I feel bad for her, but she was consistently performing at the bottom of the group AND no one wanted to be her partner.

Her time was coming up. The flagship is not her game.

She would made it 2-3 more episodes into the game.

Gabe is going to down under with y'all.

killakashhh#95

We can't even say down under on here? Ok these mods need to be fought!

She was on the bottom because she got there late and alliances were already made.  Anyone that doesn't want to work with a recent 2 time champ when you have people like Aneesa and Ashley as options is just being ridiculous.  Michaela, who I don't even think likes Jonna, summed it up best.

I am certainly willing to give Jonna the benefit of the doubt that she came in late and joined the wrong alliance. But we cannot ignore that she's either partially crashed out (WC, AS5) or COMPLETELY crashed out (USA2, 40, 41) of five seasons straight now. And by partially or completely I mean that she either had moments or a comprehensive amount of social weakness and physical underperformance that led to her demise.

Jonna has, outwardly, at least, become a social and strategic mess. This is a woman that essentially won 3 finals in a row on AS1, AS2, and AS3. There's legitimate skill there to make the final as an inside threat to win three seasons in a row.

But you throw in her turning on Kellyanne unnecessarily SUPER EARLY on WC, voting for Michele and becoming a pariah on Red on USA2, not volunteering for the rotation that she, Tori, Nia, and Averey agreed on AND immediately becoming an outcast on Era 3 in 40, not finding her footing and being sacrificed immediately on AS5, and then THIS performance, which if Jonna was killing dailies and building alliances maybe Gabe doesn't tank their game, not to mention her FOUR straight elimination losses...

Jonna peaked, plateaued, and DECLINED. And there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone passes their prime. She's an outside finals threat with a subpar daily performance game, a social and strategic game that is a MESS and inspires no loyalty/allies, and way more likely to lose an elimination than win one.

I like Jonna, I do. And Gabe is 100% the reason they are going home in Episode 11. But she would've been 50%+ the reason they went home in Episodes 12-14.

Would you make this your dissertation if you ever decided to pursue a PhD in Challenge Studies? Seems like a great starting point.

Jonna is a perfect example that doing reality television over and over again is TERRIBLE for your mental health. No one should do EIGHT seasons of this in five years. But I do empathize with her. She's likely pulling in a year's salary in appearance fees now. And if she declines one, maybe the phone calls dry up. Get that bag, queen.

And her performance isn't all her fault either. She's had some partners over the years that gave her NO CHANCE to thrive or even survive.

However, Queen needs a vacation and a year or two off...OR Grant as a partner again lol.

the volunteering was complete BS I don't blame jonna at all and Nehemiah picking her as a target was just as stupid

She had enough finally calling out those fake bitches

CosmicDiva#112

Jonna would never cheat on her husband with MJ again and that's what matters.

derp1987#113

holy fecal she did basically win as1 as well. Stupid single winner seasons.

People discredit her All Stars 2 win all the time and they're somewhat valid because if Ayanna doesn't quit, at some point TJ was gonna blow the horn and MJ/Jonna were in last...

But also she got screwed out of All Stars 1's winnings so it felt like the Challenge Gods righting a major wrong. Fruitfly single winner seasons.
