Behind the Screen: The Challenge: Vets and New Threats - Johnny Bananas

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

He stays hating on the show/production constantly so I dont know why they keep casting him. Them still having him on the season in the heat of the taylor situation was WILD.

same with Jordan. Their golden boys could literally sling slurs or be on the epstein list and they will still cast them

As much as I can't stand him--every single one of them should always say yes when asked especially with his app check

One day, we will finally see his last episode ever & i hope it's him leaving in the humiliating fashion that he so richly deserves.

He needs to stop getting Botox; his forehead looks strange.

TIMES UP GRANDPA!

killakashhh#13

Him and Cara both need to retire

Flopnanas#14

Still annoying as ever but at least his peak days are behind him. Hasn't won in 5 years and probably never will again.

Sportsman180#15

Entering Season 42, he will have one win in a decade. Hilarious. Legacy destroyed.

GoldenRing#16

Not really? 7 is still a lot.

He just doesn't know how to bow out gracefully or take bigger break. The more seasons you have fruit flys up your win to lose ratio.

That being said, Eras is the closet to a "hard" season he's had in awhile and suffers when he can't have things handed to him . It's so easy to throw him in and risk him going and that says everything about the people he competed with before.

I've disliked John since the Duel but of he's still a solid competitor unfortunately

Flopnanas#18

He's gonna be complaining on social media for the 16 episodes he's not apart of lol

To be fair, that's how he stays relevant

It's annoying but...

Yet he had the most points on the male side. So what's that say about everyone else.

can't win a final let alone an elimination tho *giggles*

Sportsman180#22

Not that he had any real chance to win, but he made an absolutely horrible rookie mistake leaving the middle token as the last one to do. Outside to outside looked about 15 feet apart. Outside to middle, like 7-8 feet.

His only real chance was to get the middle one on his first run when Gabe was trying to figure out the game. So that Gabe would have to cover the outsides, giving Bananas more time to unlatch to one and sprint to the other. As soon as he had the outsides done, he barely even tried any deflection onto those two, obviously, because it's a waste of time. It only took Gabe a minute or two to figure out the outsides were done and only the middle remained. Once Gabe knew the middle was the important one, he sat on it. Bananas with a much better strategy, could've probably been done in less than 3-4 minutes.

I hate John from Key West......but he did well in the elimination.  There was no way he was winning.  That other guy was triple his size.

CosmicDiva#24

Every now and then we witness an exorcism on TV. We just saw one with Bananas & his eliminatia.

kvm1977#25

John has lost like that before...maybe worse when he was made into a backpack.  He's never been a psychical beast.   He'll be back unfortunately and probably make another final.  Hopefully Gabe builds on that.

Just a terrible look for the franchise lol...

OS Kajun#27

How is that a bad look for the franchise? The .0001% of the fanbase going on that cruise deserves to look foolish for paying to hang out with those losers.

Any time a headline comes out that says anything like: "Fans and Contestants of The Challenge Victims of Scam", it's a bad look for the franchise, even if the franchise has NOTHING remotely to do with it. It just makes everything and everyone associated with the show look shoddy and amateur.

OS Kajun#29

I love to bash the franchise any chance I get but this is such an irrelevant situation, I don't think it's any reflection on the show lol.

I'm not bashing the franchise at all. It's a bad optical look for the franchise, at no fault of their own. They can't control what side hustles literally hundreds of former/current contestants take on or not.

CosmicDiva#31

I think the average fan won't find out. It'll be ok.
