Also, it's not easy for everyone to just come out. This isn't a fictional movie like Love Simon where when you come out everyone is behind you. In real life homophobia is still very very real, and people lose loved ones and friends because of it, especially in POC families. For all you know his family is religious and he's scared. Some people don't have that support. No need to berate someone for that. How nasty.
