Behind the Screen: Challenge Rookie Prospects

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Pink will be happy, I don't see a single legitimate rookie prospect that isn't a first through fourth Challenge boot from Big Brother this season or Survivor the past two seasons.

For Big Brother, like maybe Zae and Zach, but they're nothing remotely special. Keanu's the most muscular fat person I've ever seen and he's 33 or 34...keep him at home. The girls are all unathletic duds, can't speak on camera (Lauren), or are pick-me codepenent weirdos (Morgan).

For Survivor, it's like they're actively avoiding casting young, bubbly, interesting, good looking, athletic people. Like they had a 50% weirdo quota that they just gotta hit!

With Love Island keeping their casts mostly insular and involved on their own spinoffs and MTV's reality dating tv shows unfortunately dying off, there's definitely a drought of promising rookie talent for The Challenge.

We sure as fecal aren't finding promising rookies from The Amazing Race...

King Zae for 42!

If they're gonna cast a first boot, let's get Kristen first!!!

Flopnanas#128

Keanu and morgan are the ONLY ones needed for 42!

Keanu's fat and Morgan's co-dependent. They're both gonna be 34-35 in time for Season 42. To commit valuable rookie spots to them is silly and negligent to the future of the franchise.

Or both? And reilly

Nonja#131

Zae, Jimmy and Keanu for S42

Reilly's a pre-jury boot to anyone that doesn't follow that show, even if she's really a second boot lol.

Irregardless, she absolutely should be on 42.

I'm really gonna get ahead of this Keanu narrative now...

Keanu circa 2018 could've been on this show. But can someone explain to me why we need a 35 year old, past his prime bodybuilder aka a currently muscled up fat guy who also has a long-term girlfriend...

What's the vision here? A guy who sits around and eats a bunch, doesn't hookup, yells at people, and loses a bunch of climbing/running dailies and dominates pole wrestle/hall brawl? We already have CT  for that.

OS Kajun#134

Zae, Jimmy and Keanu for S42

Jimmy? The guy who brought nothing but 3 stolen and rehearsed drag queen lines? Get out of here lol.

Flopnanas#135

Jimmy is one of the worst things ever to happen to reality tv.

TheKonquerer#136

These 3 please and thanks.

OS Kajun#137

You gonna tell us who they are?

Dreamdoll#138

We'll be lucky to get 3 episodes with Konquerer's dream cast since most of them will get kicked out for fighting lol

GoldenRing#139

Outside of Fania idk who the other two are

Flopnanas#140

The challenge will NEVER choose someone from zeus they don't like entertainment these days

Tvandcoffee#141

If they stopped casting from bgc because they are a liability or wtfruitfly the excuse was, they sure afruitfly not gonna cast from zeus lol

GoldenRing#142

Camila was a damn liability and they still cast her for multiple seasons.

That excuse was always corny. They brought Angela on after she fought Alicia at the D30 reunion, so what was the issue? Janelle ? Lol

angela fought Alicia at the dirty 30 reunion? Were they both supporting Derrick? Is that when Alicia met Cory?

I legit didn't know this

TheKonquerer#144

Fania , KayRican, and KoldKilla from Baddies Africa !

How do we all feel about rookie men from the UK? In general, the UK men have pretty much flopped. Bear's got two great seasons banned from streaming. Theo and Rogan burned bright and burned out just as fast. Great prospects like Kelz and Ashley Cain never returned.

Even the "star" in Kyle is seemingly banned or just uninvited from the abuse allegations. The rest: Joss, Tristan, Jake are all very dry/humorless and lack dynamic personalities.

The Brit women seem a lot more bubbly and dynamic and fit into the show's social politics/meta a lot easier.

Do we keep "wasting" spots trying to get UK men established as vets? Or just throw more spot to Love Island USA fboys?

GoldenRing#146

I legit didn't know this

Alicia hooked up with Derrick and Angela said they got into it in New York on EOTB. I believe it was when the reunion was filmed because the cast was all there

Angela snuck her. Cory said years later, it was a tie fr.

I like Kelz and Callum for the future, but Kelz isn't coming back at this point.

Nathan Henry should've been on the main show by now. I don't care for most UK men, Cain was boring to me too, but there's a few gems that haven't been used.

Why'd you phrase this like they're still actively casting her? The last time Camila was on tv i was a freshman in high school. Same with an bgc girls. Mtv was losing sponsors due to the violence and so now they actively avoid characters like that

gabbydawn#149

How do we all feel about rookie men from the UK?

Give me Ben from this recent season of love island UK and then we can cut ties with that country when it comes to rookie men
GoldenRing#150

Why'd you phrase this like they're still actively casting her?

It's not phrased like she's currently being cast, it's being phrased like she was still kept on the show despite multiple violent and racially charged incidents until they decided it was too much.

They were fine with it because it was "good TV" but the BGC girls got branded as "too much" for physically fighting on a show, where physical violence was the norm. And, only two BGC girls crossed over, and they knew exactly who Angela was when they brought her on. So the pearl-clutching after the fact is what I find odd.

CT is another example who was also extremely unprompted and violent, and continued to get cast. I get he's mellowed out now, but production was willing to see that through. Yet, the other girls were assumed not to know how to conduct themselves and not given a chance.

gabbydawn#151

You are suggesting zeus girls who's entire resume is just beating people up in the year 2025. It's not even an MTV issue but no network is casting those girls unless they're someone like Natalie and Camila.
