Behind the Screen: The Challenge: Rivals 3 - Raging Bullies

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

I don't think it was racist. However, growing up black in an all white school or vice versa people make jokes, tease and make slick racist comments like that to get under peoples skins, so you can give the origins of those names all you want but in the real world that can hurt if you're being teased because people can take terms or names and turn them into slurs or insults.  If you're a white girl and I'm calling you Bertha and that's not your name... then I'm CLEARLY making fun of your whiteness. Bottom line. Same thing if you were black and I call you Shanaenae. As far as the Vince situation it's up to Chey to interprete what Vince was trying to do when he called her outside her name. Johnny on the other hand has made hispanic/latino jokes in the past that didn't sit well with me. That raised more eyebrows than anyone in the past (well since Jenna T.) but I'm not calling him a racist or anything.

I don't think Johnny and Vince are racist or xenophobic per se. I just think they have no regard for people's feelings. If Cheyennetells Vince that a particular comment is incensitive and that she feels offended or hurt, he needs to respect that and shut up. Regardless of his intentions, he can't tell her not to feel hurt. It's not his place to tell her how she should feel. When it comes to Johnny, I remember that Nany just laughed at his Hispanic jokes, but Camila did feel offended and told him they weren't funny. He just didn't care.

I think it was more about the ch-sounding names.  I know more non African American girls with those names actually.  He called her simone because she was being dramatic.  He was trying to get in a teams head & they fell for it.

If he wanted to call her out for trying to get camera time, he could have called her Jemmye. He would have called her Cara Maria if it was about her playing the victim. He went with Simone because she's black. A black girl from AYTO, that's all she is to him.

He doesnt know Jemmye, he calling her simone I doubt it was because she was black. I seriously believed it was because according to him she was being camera hungry at the moment, like they all talk simone was during her time in Rivals 3.

But how exactly was she being camera hungry? He was the one yelling, jumping, acting like an underdeveloped monkey, following her around. She asked him to stop and his answer was to call her ugly, like that's relevant. She than removed herself from the situation. And she's being dramatic and camera hungry?

Also, I have absolutely no respect for people who go around throwing shots at women's looks. Unless I ask for your opinion, you have absolutely no right to come at me and tell me you don't find me attractive. Zero right. And even less than zero if you use it in an argument. "Shut up, you're ugly" is something my 5-year-old nephews are old enough not to say.

I dont think she was camera hungry and I dont agree with anything he say. I think he is annoying bully.

But I dont think he called her simone because she was black, but because he wanted to offend her saying that she wanted that attention just like simone did. someone that was being called camera hungry during this show.

idk, i feel like he could have done better. he seemed very resigned and quiet and just over it. i agree that he's gone down as a competitor, but i think he could have done better.

Nany did fine on the other hand. She even gave him a bit of a heas start n the second round I think . Wes just ****** this up like he did Exes2. He was so slow

yeah, she did. it wasn't much, but it was something. he kind of had the same strategy he did in exes 2. when dario passed him he clung to the fence to avoid getting hit. wes is afraid of getting physical and i think he could have tried harder to stop dario or move faster

HP0021#442

What the hell, Wes has seriously lost in basically the same damn elimination game 3 times now. Hall brawl against Eric, then Leroy, then this game....
