I remember us all being pressed over AYTO getting cast now we all wish it was still just them

that was Pandora's box for this show. They opened up the casting and it was a downward spiral. I'd much prefer just another fresh meat with people who weren't already established on another show. That being said Tori and Kam were the only good things to come out of AYTO for the Challenge. Both are extremely cocky for never winning a challenge but they're good tv, I can give them that. 

Then all this people need to send Jasmine from Real World Cancun some money because she was the reason they opened that pandora box.

from what I understand, they wanted Jasmine for Exes 2 but she declined. that was the reason they chose to include AYTO couples, and they saw Simone as a replacement Jasmine. smaller but feisty AF. and JJ was good comic relief who they thought would go over well to viewers, and then Adam/Brittany were the competitors. if Jasmine had accepted (with Brandon Nelson), then the whole cast would've been from the typical feeders, and the rest of it would've been Erik/Sahar from NOLA2, Trey/Laura from St Thomas, and/or Darrell/Rachel from RR Campus Crawl.

seriously?!? WTH. This makes me so sad that it came down to Jasmine not wanting to do a challenge...like there were enough alum, much more popular than her that they could have used. I liked Jasmine too but that stupid. So frustrating.....to think of what could have been. Having a Rachel / Darrel team would have been amazing and seeing more RW rookies like Erik & Sahar would have been nice too. So depressing to hear this

They were having a hard time finding exes for that season where both parties were willing to do it the casting pool back then was so limited. They harrassed Heather Marter because they wanted her and Dustin as a team but she kept declining. Jenny declined to be partner with Cory Wharton. Marie/Robb declined. Devyn Simone declined. One of Darrell/Rachel declined. Paula declined. Jenn declined. Laurel declined. They even asked Eric/Sahar one of them declined according to Knight.

At the end the cast was what we had except ayto plus Jasmine/Swift and Laura/Trey. But like 2 weeks before departure Jasmine dropped from the cast no idea if it was over getting pregnant or not. So with her dropping they decide to open the pandora box asked Brittany/Adam since ayto season 1 did so well in ratings and they also decide to have another team from that show. So they made Laura/Trey an alternate team because they though they were boring replacing them with Simone/JJ.

Tbh i believe them including Are you the One would have been just a matter of time. At that time they had good ratings and a rather fresh concept and retrospectively way better characters for the Challenge then like TRW. If so many people declined and they kept insiting for the theme, it was a good move giving te circumstances. I mean the casting pool got smaller due to either people moving on or not been able to do (job/school) and depending only on TRW to give you good aditions would have put everyone in this situation. Whoever dropped they would have pulled this stunt, it just happened to be Jasmine, could have been everyone really. 

AYTO as a addition just failed with who they cast first and how they edited them and that the concept itself got pretty repetitive. 

Regardless if it was during Exes 2 or AYTO cast I feel like eventually they would have brought in people from other shows. RW and RR are essentially dead so they would have brought in UK people, Big Brother people and other successful MTV shows eventually. 

They should’ve cast Jacy/Scali over Simone/JJ... oh well, hindsight is 20/20. At the time Simone/JJ were a decent choice because they had a lot of screentime on AYTO.

Regardless if it was during Exes 2 or AYTO cast I feel like eventually they would have brought in people from other shows. RW and RR are essentially dead so they would have brought in UK people, Big Brother people and other successful MTV shows eventually.

But in my opinion it would have take longer because they would have feel force to used the new Real Worlders that they still had at the time after exes 2 until bad blood when the show basically died.

Then they would have open the pandora box but imo they would have ignored ayto like they do now because after season 1 that show never really was that successful again and just cast UK/BB people over them like they do now.

for one of them for sure...I think it was Camilla at the time because I don't think Cara Maria was making the cast every season back then. If my memory is correct I think Laurel was contacted but refused to be on a team with Eric. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that

Cara was on every season from debut (Fresh Meat 2) until Exes 2. So FM2, Cutthroat, Rivals 1, Exes 1, Seasons 2, Rivals 2, Free Agents.

I guess she was an alternate for Seasons and Rivals 2, and they wanted Coral on Exes 1 instead of her, so maybe she wasn't QUITE the priority

Cara was an alternate for Seasons. It was actually supposed to be Carley and Camila on that team but at the last second they cast Cara instead of Carley. She didn’t even have a jersey until after the first mission
