Behind the Screen: UTOPIA

Since its debut in 2000, Survivor has defined the reality competition genre with its mix of physical endurance, social strategy, and raw human drama. Jeff Probst's iconic tribal councils remain appointment television.

With the new era of shorter seasons and evolving twists, Survivor continues to reinvent itself while maintaining the core survival elements that have kept fans engaged across 50 seasons and counting.

I have it recorded and will probably watch it tonight as I like the concept...

I have it on my list as well. I don't have high hopes, because I quit watching Survivor a long time ago, and I've kind of grown tired of the format...

I have it on my list as well. I don't have high hopes, because I quit watching Survivor a long time ago, and I've kind of grown tired of the format. But my mom says I should check it out, so I suppose I will.

Forgot to record it. Anyone know where else I could watch?

I watched the first three hours. While the theme has potential, they really screwed up in the casting department. The problem is Utopia is populated with assholes and psychopaths with very little in between.  They went for all over the top characters meaning the first couple days have been nothing but shouting matches, violence and drunken debauchery.

I know Fox invested $50 million into the show so they have an incentive to keep this on the air, but the ratings have already been cut in half from episode 1 to episode 2 and I think the primary reason is people are completely turned off by the cast.

This show would be a better fit for niche cable, not mainstream.

I was out when the girls sat around meditating.... And really, pregnant woman?? I don't even want to think about the type of waivers that she had to sign. Ugh...noped right out of this show.

The only thing that is going to save this show for Fox is probably the blatent nudity on the live feeds, but I still think it gets cancelled.

I actually enjoyed the show lol.

I am actually going to give it another epsiode or two, just because I love the concept and want it to work. Maybe with new cast members there will be more for me to like and the overall editing of the show will mature with time.
