Filming begins today, and according to this interview with Jeff Probst, one pair has already been pulled from the game for medical reasons. The same situation occurred with the first Blood vs Water when RC's dad Craig was deemed medically unfit due to hypertension and they were replaced by Candice and John. This time, however, there is not an alternate team ready and the season will have only 9 pairs and a gender imbalance.

Who knows why they didn't bring a new pair in, I guess it isn't a big deal though. 18 players means there likely will not be a 2 person elimination right off the bat, and that we might get 2 person Duels instead of the "Truels" from last season.

Jeff said that just by looking at the cast, you likely could accurately guess about 70% of the pairs. Some of them should be able to hide it if they try, but eventually I think the cast will piece together the pairings. We'll see what happens though.
Anyways I was thinking about this and wouldn't it be interesting if say, they didn't know who was related to who?

For example, I found Hayden really annoying on Big Brother but thought he was awesome on survivor and rooted for him. It's a chance that they may be better. But I agree with the rest that they would most likely not make the merge.

I am so upset that there's a possibility of 10:8 Boys to girls ratio. Girls havnt won in 3 Seasons. Now if it's likewise where there are more girls.... Now that's a Different story! #TeamGirls

I honestly do not have a problem with more boys. I'd prefer a female to dominate, but the past few female winners have been so disappointing to me. More power to the girls if they can pull out the win this season with a small disadvantage.
