Since its debut in 2000, Survivor has defined the reality competition genre with its mix of physical endurance, social strategy, and raw human drama. Jeff Probst's iconic tribal councils remain appointment television.

Can't say I anticipated Tina to out-grapple the boys...

Aras couldn't keep that maze balanced at all. I also knew the results before hand because CBS released Aras going to Ponderosa early...

An emotional loss results in the first jury member of the season; a tearful tribal council; a contestant makes a generous offer.

No, that part surprised me

Ugh, that sucks. Yeah, Aras was coming from behind so he was definitely trying to rush through it as fast as possible.

I'm glad Tina and Aras stayed. I hope katie isn't voted out. I don't understand why Katie, Ciera, Laura, Hayden and Caleb don't team up against Tyson and Gervase

They don't see it though. Hayden thinks Tyson is in his corner so that's not even an option Ciera's 100% right in her conversation with Laura

Ciera is an unbelievably perceptive player. She is mentioning to her mom how they might rather have Katie in the game, but Laura can't see that. Ciera is someone I could see winning the game if she gets taken to the end. She may not be someone who plans the big moves or do well in the challenges, but she is very aware and has a great social game which could be enough.

I agree, and I think it took a lot of pride swallowing for Laura to admit that she was right.

I think it depends who she goes up against. Katie? Sure. Tyson? No way. I think as easy as it would be to praise her social game and her awareness, it could be just as easy to argue that she rode the coat tails and did what Tyson and Gervase told her to do.

I don't see Ciera winning. She is willing to cut her mom for 3rd leave with Tyson and Gervase. Ciera isn't a strong enough player to go with these guys, unfortunately she doesn't have a lot of options because Hayden and Caleb are idiots.

I think it would be similar to when Coach didn't win. Tyson is the one who masterminds everyone being voted out and we could see a bitter jury. Aras doesn't seem bitter, but Tina and Vytas could be very bitter againster him.

I still can't believe Gervase has a Pagong tattoo.

Monica's definitely a fierce competitor--which is why they'll take her out sooner than later

Monica is a fierce competitor, but I am not sure if she could win at the end.

I think she's out as soon as she doesn't win immunity. She's already on the bottom of the totem pole. And there starts the butt kissing...

Trying to make a game move--not going to work

No disagreement but if she won enough comps maybe she'd win

Hard to say. The jury doesn't always reward physical prowess. See Colby vs Tina.

It is always tricky. It really depends on what the jury values. Sometimes the jury heavily factors in competition wins, other times it is strategy, other times it is who they like the most. The members of the jury thus far don't seem to like Monica at all though.

Does anyone know if two idols are in play or is the other out because it was hidden at the other camp?

Only one idol as far as I know.

True...but that's Monica's only shot
molds13#24
See, I think at this point the people on RI should be allowed to observe tribal council. They're going to be on the jury, and they're missing out on valuable information here.
molds13#25
This has been the first episode where I really wasn't sure what was going to happen.

Proud of Ciera...strategic

I love how they had enough votes to show yet the dagger was the one that said (mom) on it. Way to go CBS.

Survivor always shows the votes in a way to maximize drama.

Ciera voting against her mom and then plotting to get rid of Tyson in the preview. I told you she had a chance of winning if she made it to the end.

I just realized that if Tina loses the next duel, she'll place 10/20. This means she will have gone from first to worst to smack dab in the middle. Quite an interesting feat!

Tyson thinks he's Boston Rob (circa RI) this season. I'd love to see him get blindsided and if Ciera is the one to do it, more power to her.
