Behind the Screen: The Superstars

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

I might watch the first 15 minutes just to see what it is all about, although I just got burned with a horrible celebrity show so I don't have much hope that this will be at all entertaining...

ABC The Superstars...is a show of Athletes teaming up with celebs, and they have missions/challenges to see who's the best team. I can't wait for this show. The challenges seem really physical, and very RW/RR type of challenge. It's airs Tuesdays at 8pm, and premiers June 23rd, 2009 at 8pm

I'm thinking that they may be a bit liberal with their use of the term "celebrity." As per usual, I have never heard of half of them and only know the other half in passing. Jennifer Capriati? Didn't she go on some drug binge 20 years ago and disappear? I swear she was out to pasture at Sierra Tucson. And what is up with calling people from other reality shows, celebrities? I don't agree with calling a stunt dancer on a show about D-List Dancers, a celebrity or for that matter a designer on a reality show about hawking Sears products (with that crazy guy who got the DUI) a celebrity. I made it 7 minutes. I'm proud of myself (that I stuck around long enough to be snarky.) Out.

Bode Miller is on it, I am sucked in with no way out. New Hampshire-ites gotta stick together! I even saw him play baseball, he may have struck out but he could throw the ball! haha Not sure how I feel about him being paired with Paige from Extreme Home Makeover, but it could be worse I guess. If you bring Bode, I will come! :D

I do like the tasks but this announcer is wicked annoying. I wanted to mute him just like I do with FOX announcers during games.

The show isn't too bad actually. I must say these Challenges are intense.
