Behind the Screen: Solitary 3.0

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Solitary 3.0

yargh989 ·
I've been reluctant to start a discussion thread on Vevmo about this show- but I can't help it anymore. I sometimes feel like I might be the only one who watches this show (in my "real life" at least), but due to the ratings, I know that there are other people out there that watch it, but just can't find them. It is really one of the best (and most complex) reality shows on Fox Reality (Hell's Kitchen is alright), and I have set aside every Saturday night in my DVR for this special blessing. On that note- if you watch this show, please come out of the closet and discuss it with me. If you're not yet up to date, you can watch the whole season here: Hulu - Solitary There is absolutely no bigger disappointment than the most recently elimination- the victim of which was definitely the most vivacious and exciting characters on the show. I've watched all three seasons, and this is by far the best.

Yeah, I really couldn't believe that they had to tear the meat off of the goat carcass. GAG.

Interesting that you mention this, because I've tried to recruit a few people to the clan and almost nobody in my area gets the channel. At one house I have satellite, and at the other house I have cable. At the house that has the satellite, I get the FoxReality channel (through DISH), however at the other house that has cable (Cox) I get it on LMN. Weird, but true.

Yeah! and that wasn't even the "treatment", which is what the elimination is based off of.

They show it on Lifetime Movie Network? Er...I don't think I have that channel either! (Stupid Charter cable....)

Yeah, I don't even get it. I think its the equivalent of Cinemax (or whatever) showing movies during the day, and showing softcore **** at night (Solitary always comes on late).

I have no clue what this show is...never heard of it, but I came by out of curiosity and I am freaking out...that is traumatizing imo.

Sweet! I dumped Fox Reality a few months ago because I never watched it - but I love this series! Going to catch episode 1 right now.

I have been really into this season. More so than the others. I have really enjoyed the interesting people they brought in this season. I have stuck by Carrie, Pod 8, this whole time.

Pod 3 for me...

She makes me laugh. But I just don't think she wants it as bad, or doesn't seem like she wants it as bad. But I am pretty much rooting for her now since Pod 8 has just made her departure.

Spoilersince Pod 8 has just made her departure.
No need for a spoiler once the episode has aired.

Agreed. I like 3 and 7. #4 is just weird, but probably the most prepared.

I do not like Pod 7 for some reason. if I had to choose who would win, it is probably going to be #4. He just seems so prepared and ready for this.

Pod 3 was my fav. Pod 5 was the worst, most annoying reality contestant I've ever had to watch. I also really enjoyed #9, I felt that he was given the unfair disadvantage with the cardio challenges.

Oh I'm sure you could think of a few more annoying contestants...

Pod 5 was very entertaining I thought. I do not believe there was any unfairness in the Challenge. He signed up for this show, most likely knowing that there would be something physical. He lucked out in the fact that he wasn't in the best of shape.

Eh, solitary gives off the idea of mental challenges. I don't think they really advertise the fact that they'll be physically arduous, such as with the first challenge (when there were 10 people), and with the most recent (crawling).

That was a mental challenge. All of them have been. I am sure if he really tried, he could have done a bit better than he did. The first challenge, as in the one with walking around in circles on stones, isn't that physically taxing. Those who push themselves and keep a good mindset will win.

He could barely fit through the obstacle that they had to crawl through

Love this show. I actually tried out for this season when Reality Wanted/Spicy Thermo Casting were casting for a few spots and made it to the semi-finals. Rob-Rob's (Pod #4) was selected from the Reality Wanted site and had a complete obsession with the game as seen on his audition tape: "RobRob" - Solitary 3.0 Home Tape Submission All audition tapes were set up on blip.tv but I have since removed mine.

Even if, I don't thnk it is their fault. They probably had it planned already, and not to be rude, but I don't think we can blame them for his figure.

I'm not a big fan of his, but I have a strong feeling that he will win.

I am all caught up. Hulu is my friend. I am pulling for pod 7. The guy in pod 4 probably should best remain in solitary (i.e. a nice hospital with padded rooms) after his stay on the show. He is definitely a few cards short of a full deck.
Bacchus#30
I just caught the end. Number 7 pulled it off, although I did end up feeling bad for number 4. Always a fun series. Can't wait for Solitary 4.0!
yargh989#31
I'm personally disgusted, lol. I mean, he's okay. Much better to be the winner than #4, but #4 was the far better contender for the prize. She *****ed a lot, but had the most to overcome.
