Behind the Screen: The Ruins: Sarah Rice - MTV

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

I don't like Sarah, so I wouldn't want her to win. She seems annoying, desperate for friendship, and whiny...

She still worked her *** off and deserves to be there just as much as anybody else. I'm not a fan either but come on now.

I have not watched her RW Season. From what I have seen on The Ruins is a girl that desperately tries to be liked by the "popular" people and lets them degrade her. I don`t think its funny and I don`t think she likes it but unfortunately she acts like any girl that has no self-respect and let this guys or specially Kenny treat her like s***. Please don`t say they are friends in real life and that is why she can tolerate that. We have seen in the last episode that it hurt her. As a female I can definitely say that you do not want to be called a "retard", "weirdo" or "*****" all the time. I hope she can find her inner strength and realize that she does not need their attention or friendship. As Susie said, these guys are losers.
They are friends, she was just in Jersey a couple of weeks ago with Kenny.

That's too bad you feel that way. Sarah is a sweet gal and did a great job on the challenge.

It has been posted on here before. I know that, but I was also the one that said she does not like they way the guys treat her and all the guys on vevmo said "oh no look they are friends, she is ok with their behaviour". Then, two weeks later she is crying in the pool and telling Susie how much she hated it being bullied in school and now it is happening again. What I wonder is, why does she hang out with them then? Susie pretty much summed it up quite well "These guys are losers" I wish Sarah had more self-esteem and would not be so dependent of what the cool kids think of her.

Because what we see on TV, is not always what happens in real life. Its called playing up their "character".

Exactly. Alot of the people that we perceive to be the biggest ******* on these shows turn out to be the sweetest people in person. And conversely, a lot of the times the ones we think are so sweet and nice turn out to be ******.

It is amazing what a little bit of fame will do people.

I was pretty indifferent to Sarah during Brooklyn (though I could always kind of see what Ryan thought he saw in her) but warmed to her a bit during the Ruins though I agree a bit with the previous poster who says it looks like she is desperate to fit in and be popular.

In the first couple of episodes I loved Sarah, she quickly went downhill for me. On the challenge I agree that she tried way to hard to fit in. She also sent Katie home and I'm kinda bitter since I love Katie.
suz84#42
Have you ever been new in school...all you want to do is fit in. LOL people go hating on all these people way to hard. We don't even know them personally.
saltvinegar#43
Even though I love Katie I wasn't upset at Sarah for sending her home I was upset by how she handled the win. Ecspecially after reading Katie's blog.
Npresh24#44
She to me is slowly became the new Paula. Following Kenny lke a love sick puppy and Hanging with Kenny and Jihnny all the time in the dailies.

What did Katie's blog say?
saltvinegar#46
It said that she had made up with Sarah and they were cool but then Sarah made a rude comment about Katie smoking (i cant remember the exact quote) but of course it was edited to seem like Katie started everything.
dplayer18#47
That's crazy and wasn't nice of Sarah.

Considering the fact that only JEK, Susie & Kellyanne are the only people left who else is she suppose to hang around with?

She hung out with them since the start. I was told by a close person to the cast that Sarah and Kenny did hook up on the challenge.

Now I don't entirely love Sarah, (but I do respect her making it to finals as a rookie) but what other option did she have? For most of these low lifes on the challenges, it's either "fit in and be besties" with these groups of TV-enhanced jerks or stand up to them and probably go home. Most people wouldn't chose the latter, especially being a rookie new to the game. Atleast Kelly Anne can 'back her **** up' so to speak so rarely cares about fitting in. Sarah, even in Brooklyn, didn't strike me as the Wes/KA stick to your guns type. Then again, poll the cast, men and women. Most aren't. Most adhere to the powers that be...every, single, time. That's why JEK or whatever power group of guys make it to the end. Derrick, Darrell, Brad, Susie, Paula... they all do this, as does so many other people. It's really beat them or join them, and many don't want to put their ***** on the line to beat them so joining them is the only option.

We saw her about 5 times on her season. The odds of her being asked to a challenge are not good. I really like Sarah.

This should put this bull**** to rest. Sarah's facebook Status Sarah Rice for the record: yes... kenny and I are friends! and no... i dont hate him... and yes.. i knew he was joking around in thailand... so give the poor guy a break.. sure, he was a bit of an ***, but he also toughened me up and prepared me for future challenges!

JEK always have a punching bag, on the Island it was Evelynn/Kelly Anne this one it was Sarah.
unamazing#56
I thought there personal punching bag was Katie/Tonya and only once they left did they redirect their focus to Sarah.

:wacko2: So, she's still making excuses for Kenny and downplaying what he said to her?

Maybe it's because a lot of people (vevmo people included) blew it up to be bigger then it really was.

She has no excuses to make, this is an edited television show, that should be taken just as that.
Anonymous#60
The situation between Kenny and Sarah was exactly what she said. They were teasing each other. They are friends. Like LM said... There are no excuses to make.
