Behind the Screen: Road Rules Will NEVER Return

The reality TV landscape has never been more crowded or more diverse. From dating shows to competition series to docusoaps, networks and streamers are betting big on unscripted content.

What sets the great shows apart is their ability to create genuine moments — the kind of unscripted drama that no writer's room could manufacture. That's what keeps fans coming back.

Yeah he specifically said he was gay on Bromance...something about gay guys getting all the hot chicks as best friends or something like that.

I made this "Best of Road Rules" clip of the past 14 seasons awhile back, I'm not sure if you guys saw it or not; YouTube - 14 Seasons of Road Rules I think it's a nice trip down memory lane for some of you, if not, it'll give you a great idea on what the show was like/about.

Thanks for the video, I liked it a lot. I never saw any seasons of road rules except VR which most people say doesn't even count. It was nice to see what road rules was about.

Great video! The only season of Road Rules I've ever seen was Viewers Revenge which sucked! It was cool to see some clips from the early shows.

I wouldn't worry about it. I suspect it wasn't particularly memorable for Ashli either.

i loved road rules: semester at sea! i didnt see it when it was airing cause i was like...9 years old lol, but i bought the dvd a couple of months ago because i was interested to see how Veroncia started this whole thing. That season was pretty crazy it was hilarious with the whole veronica plagarizing ayannas paper, then right after veronica steals pua's shirt, the whole voodoo thing and ayanna screaming at everybody haha.

V1 - I do find it interesting that, like you said, this thread won't die! To the creator of the video - FANTASTIC! It brought back so many great memories - Kalle wingwalking, Tara and Dan's relationship, Roni's explosion on the Northern Trail cast, Ayanna/Veronica drama, GLADYS (love herrrr), Susie's first swear, Michelle Parma (RIP, so sad...). A great, great video. I'm going to toss it up on my blog. Hope that's ok (but since there is an enable code on the YouTube clip, I'm assuming it's cool) Kudos! Seriously. I only wish some of the older seasons were on DVD. But again - I know I shouldn't hold my breath. Again, in reference to this thread stickin' around - I'd still rather the show remain dead than to be brought back in Viewer's Revenge form. I'd also prefer the show to remain dead rather than be brought back with the "Vote off" rule. Even though I lost interest during Semester At Sea...the vote off rule (which started with The Quest, I believe) was truly the beginning of the end. The show was supposed to be about the journey these people go through together...from start to finish. NOT a revolving door of newbies who come for a mission or two and get outsed after. *edit* - In case you care, I tossed the video here. Gave ya full credit and linked to your YouTube page.

Every time I see this thread on the home page, I get SO excited because I think Road Rules is actually returning! :crying:....And then I remember; it's not.

For that reason alone, I believe it is appropriate to consider locking this thread. As is stands, it is a fitting tribute to a sad loss.
RockSteadyVybes#82
if this thread is locked...it'd still be cool to maybe open another section or a new thread where people can discuss the older seasons if they choose to. I always enjoy reminiscing about RR =)

Why would you do that? At least keep it open for the sake of discussion, we don't want the show to vanish forever.

Thanks! Go for it, this video needs as much exposure as possible. Road Rules was an excellent series and probably one of the greatest ideas BMP and MTV ever came up with. It's a shame that such a format is gone. It'd be nice if MTV can see the video and realize how great of a show they lost compared to the shows-that-only-last-one-season garbage they have on now.

Please reread the title of the thread. The show is not going to return. People who come to vevmo may see the thread and believe there is a possibility of return. The thread may seen to provide a hope that is, at best, disingenuous.

Well that's why this thread exists in the first place, for the people who come to vevmo to find out if Road Rules may return, or not. The question mark is in the thread title for a reason. And even if it is confirmed that the show isn't returning at least the thread is still open for discussion, I mean it looks like almost everything RR-related is either merged or posted in this thread anyway. Just because we already know that RR may not return doesn't mean that people aren't gonna want to still talk about it.

Well, there you go, forcing the heavy hand of management... We're joking, Justin, but we do get PMs from new people telling us we mislabeled a thread or three here. Bacchus seems to have now weighed in on the subject and rendered his verdict with the changed thread title. :) Not to worry; there is another one for Road Rules where you all can talk about past Road Rules seasons.

The title made me laugh a little. I only watched Viewer's Revenge so I can't really say much about the show.

Yeah Viewers Revenge = the last nail in the coffin for Road Rules...
Kevin Prudente#89

i think Road Rules will return eventually.

I don't think so. A few weeks ago it was reported that BMP was casting for Real World 21 and Road Rules 15. On their casting site it had both shows listed. Now it just says Real World 21. Road Rules 15 has been removed from the submission page, probably forever.

The ratings have been heading down hill since the show's debut. Road Rules Viewer's Revenge was a last attempt to revive a dying series and it failed.
