Real World: San Diego (2011) - Danas, Derrieres and Drama

I can see this season going the DC route as far as ratings go. The premier was great, this episode will probably have an increase in ratings but the next one will drop significantly and so on and so forth. Also, it looks like their aftershows are online only.

The Aftershows without a host are always online, the one they did with Chet is the one they are going to air after an episode.

I like this cast okay enough. I don't really love or hate anyone on it though.

I thought this was gonna be good, but I'm just not feeling it... Frank is SUPER awkward and the drama that revolves around him makes me feel uncomfortable. I hope that that the focus moves off of him and on to the other cast members, but looking at the teasers - it's all about Frank. I don't even care for the next episode. I'm still gonna watch though, it's routine for me to watch these shows... but I'm just not feeling it. :(

Frank is wayyy to over the top dramatic. it almost doesn't seem real... Wow, Ashley is really trying hard to get Zach's attention. Like, chill out girl, he sees you lol The clock thing was hilarious! Good one. Everything else that happened in this episode...forgettable. Not really feeling this season, but i will probably still continue watching since i've watched almost all the other rw's anyway.

And another solid episode. That was a very interesting background concerning Frank. Though I'm not Team Frank I am starting to warm up to him for now. He needs to get over the name calling situation or disengage himself like Alex is saying. I mean he does have a point about being called disparaging names but its just a word. Like Sam said its just sticks. Nate and Sam together are genius! Loved Prank War 2011. And Zach has some damn nerve to say what a real man does or doesn't do. We can't all wear panties like you. Not a good look by the way. Priscilla sounded messy when she said she was gonna fight over the alarm but I guess its okay because I know I probably would too. I loved how Alexandra found all the alarms in less than 60 seconds, pure genius. Ashley is not bad but not all that either. Sam is so damn cool its not even funny. Love you, babe. All in all this was a fantastic episode. Looking forward to next week.

What do you mean especially males you just met? There's nothing wrong with showing a little emotion. I do think he should've talked to the gang separately, like the girls first then the boys. If he had did that I don't think he would've cried anyway. And the television thing is getting old. So what. Its not like its live. That was in the moment and I'm sure he wasn't thinking of it at the time. Keep in mind Nate cries as well coming up so its all good. And then there's Leroy. Crying does have its limit but its something we're all capable of doing.

I disagree with this post. Considering its only the second week.

The fact that we learned about Frank's past so soon I think goes to show you how bad this season's going to be. Zito's past was teased but not revealed for half of the season, Nany's relationship with her father wasn't revealed until the end, but Frank acted crazy and it got explained immediately after. That just makes me think that they're grasping for straws and trying to get as much as possible now instead of holding some stuff off. Otherwise, Frank's explanation could have been saved for a couple of episodes down the road.

As of the second episode, here's my ranking of likability: Sam Nate Ashley Alexandra Frank Zach Priscilla

I'm still uneasy about him, and by no means are his actions excused completely, but I feel like I'm beginning to understand Frank. These tweets, though, I completely agree.

It's not that necessarily disagree with anything Frank is saying or doing. It's cool to have your values and principles, and to emphatically defend them shows a lot of character. My big problem with him so far, and editing may be to blame, but he comes off incredibly self centered. From what I've seen in the first two episodes he's just sort of lost in his own world and any of his interaction with the roommates seems to be self serving or about their issues with him. So far I can't think of one moment where he's genuinely interested in anything other than himself or somebody else that he's crushing on.

Finally am getting around to watching the episode. Alarm clock prank was amazing. Frank is a nut job. Seriously. I sympathize that he's having family issues, but that doesn't give him the right to be a dip**** to everyone. EDIT: Feel a bit better about it after seeing him apologize. Alex and Sam are the only cast members I like at this point and I don't see that changing.

I agree... I love RW Brooklyn, it is probably up there in my 3 favorite seasons, but I remember the lame pranks they pulled on that season. They were moving furniture, locking cabinets and piercing boxes (or something along those lines). Not funny. Sam and Nate's prank, on the other hand, made the episode. It made me like Nate a lot more.

I liked the alarm clock prank, that was pretty good stuff.I am not really feeling any one person yet. Just by watching he show I think Nate is looking for love a little too feverishly. That girl might have flaked because he was coming on too strong, they made it seem like he planned 3 dates with her in less than a week. I think he needs to slow down a bit. Frank, I feel for him. Nothing great has really gone down, just waiting to see where this goes but I got a feeling this will be one of those seasons that I forget a lot about pretty quickly.

This episode was kind of boring, the prank was hilarious lol. I still have hope for this season and the cast. Next episode looks good and I think the ratings are going to go up. Next episode summary by TV guide : "A pig walks into a gay bar...'' Frank brings a guy home and upsets the other roommates by hooking up all over the house. The next night a huge fight breaks out. Followed by an after show. Summary on episode 4 by TV Guide: ''Hair razing arguments and sticky situations" Alexandra's boyfriend visits; a raucous, drunken night with Priscilla family leaves one roommate in tears; Priscilla (finally she is going to get some camara time) gives a rooomate a haircut with disastrous results.

The thing about Alexandra, for me at least, is that she seems genuinely sweet and caring and I love that in a person!! I don't really love her voice, but I guess others do. I like her for the person she is. I'd say she is an amazing person, maybe not amazing by Real World standards (being crazy or funny) but she seems like a great human being. Hahaha glad I'm not the only one who was thinking that about Nate/Dana and their kiss!!

But in all honestly, does watching a nice person be nice on tv qualify as entertainment? Not that nice people can't be entertaining, but I don't find someone acting nice all the time to be good tv. I don't want to watch a train wreck or bad things, but I don't know what she's going to add at this point.

I think a nice person is great when they are surrounded by people that may not be so nice. All about the dynamics. Sometimes seeing the opposite just makes me sick. Last season when all the girls seemingly ganged up on Cooke really bothered me. I suppose it was good TV and I was certainly glued to it but I really lost a lot of respect for those girls with that behavior, pretty much changed my opinion of them in one episode.

I'm watching Denver right now and Brooke was texting/playing around with a cell phone while Jenn is driving.

Actually, I just watched the sneak peak for next week and I'm sorta interested in seeing what happens. It's more Frank drama, but for some reason - I'm interested this time, lool. The first two episodes were kinda "meh" to me, so I hope next week makes up for it!

That's why I'm saying she is not amazing in terms of the Real World, but definitely as a human being, which is why I personally like her. I wasn't stating whether or not I believe she should be on entertainment television just responding to why I think she is great and one of my favorites. A nice person being nice alone definitely isn't entertaining, but like someone else said if surrounded by some crazies it can be a good balance. I don't know if this is a good thing or bad thing but she adds a roommate who everyone likes being around. Regardless it seems some fans (myself included) are fascinated by her background and accomplishments (personally I was intrigued by the gymnast history and that she was studying engineering at Stanford), and that she is a sweetheart makes me love her more!

I think it is very possible to watch nice people being nice and be entertained. BMP just doesn't do so great a job editing those when they happen, and from what I can tell, they do anything they can to make sure they get the other kinds of entertainment--drunken drama--instead.
