I agree with Molds13 that twitter is getting more popular so cast members will get more followers. I think this was also the first time MTV posted all the cast twitter accounts from the beginning. I do not find that part of it suspicious--its the huge gains in the last couple weeks that I find suspect when the episodes were lackluster and reunion boring. Some cast members seem to have doubled or, almost trippled in Cooke's case, their number of followers in a really short period of time and they all seem to have picked up close to the same raw number of gains which makes it more suspicious to me. Maybe it is because school is out and people are more bored, but since not that many people like all the cast members, I find the symmetry in the gains a clue to something artificial going on.

It is possible that, as you said, BMP hired someone to give the entire cast a spike in Twitter followers. They can use that as a bargaining chip to continue challenges and/or Real World ("People are so interested in these kids!"). It could also be that there was, as PaintedVeil said, an entire segment devoted to their Twitter nonsense.

Subtract 20K from each and every cast member's number of followers and you would see a number consistent with their varying popularity and reasonable and explainable growth over the period. With the 20K, I would expect to be able to point to something specific to support it. What I see are no explosive episodes; no real life goings-on amongst the whole 8 cast members; no huge numbers of gains on Facebook pages; and only a marginal increase in reply tweets with seemingly fewer retweets. Since the gains are the same across the whole cast, I would suspect somebody who would have a financial interest in a DVD release who is trying to Gild the Lily as my Grandma would say, or maybe somebody with an interest in the Challenges being renewed who wanted to indirectly indicate that BMP has found its lost magic wand at the 11th hour. You can all come up with your own theories, but that is mine. Heather M. moving from a little behind Dustin to a little ahead is an understandable trend. Her picking up that many followers in addition to shifting the trend is not.

I think the whole twitter segment on the reunion was the ploy to get them new followers. Close to 2 million people on average watch the show,so them gaining that number is not impossible to me.

I also think Cooke got followers for that reason, people wanted to see what drama was unfolding.

I still don't understand why such a big deal was made of Dustin's **** past. This happened before anyone of these people knew the other existed. His past is his to discuss. If he wants to put it in a box and hide it or lie about it then that's his right. He didn't kill a baby or something heinous like that, so this badgering of "you must tell the truth about your past," is ridiculous.

Isn't this like judging people badly for judging someone else badly? It become a cyclical argument. And it is the right of others to judge him as they see fit. To think otherwise is to say, at least in my mind, that people shouldn't be held accountable for their choices. With rights, there are implicit responsibilities.

Appearing on reality TV is not much different today than running for political office. You are going to be judged, dissected, praised, vilified, lauded and/or condemned based on any number of real or perceived qualities, actions or character traits. My suspicion is that your categorization of this action as being ridiculous is one among a decidedly minimal percentage of viewers.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point, but I didn't say people didn't have the right to judge others (that's all we do, lol). I just don't get the badgering of him as if he killed someone and he must confess his sin to be a better person. He lied about doing ****. lol And just because he did gay ****, doesn't mean he's gay. Just throwing that in. To hold him accountable for this action? Why? If he lies about, what then? Does he go to jail? I'm going overboard here, but I just don't see the big deal about this. Anyway, for the most part I liked this season. If Adam had been excluded from the beginning, I would've liked it more.

I don't believe that people have a right to tell untruths. People have a right to to share information, but sharing false information is not a right someone possesses. Lots of people end up in jail thinking it is okay to lie. To hold him accountable depends on the person. I don't mind that he did the videos so much as that the lies and otherwise inconsistent statements would make me never want to trust him enough to book him if I were in the position, or allow him to be unsupervised around kids, or take his word in a dispute with someone else, or a whole bunch of other things where there are going to be people judging him as he is now even if I am not the one doing it. Being untrustworthy can be far more damaging in its consequences than making a big mistake in my thinking, and telling lies when it suits them makes someone untrustworthy.
