I've heard some of the best professionals in the country talk about the downward slope from binge drinking to the gutter... It's not a long slide, but it is damn painful to watch and even more painful to try to help someone realize how far they've fallen.

Thanks. I just don't see Adam as being that much worse than any of the other drinkers people don't call for their drinking, especially on the Challenge shows. I guess I think it is no more dangerous to smash stuff when drunk than have random sex, and maybe even less dangerous in the long run.

Name names... Do you mean people here, viewers you encounter in your daily life, cast members, the producers at BMP who apparently allow things to happen on camera, the executives at MTV who must enable the behavior with series renewal & fat checks to the production company, or the VIACOM stockholders who get wealthy on the backs of some 21 yr old kid who's told it's cool to get wasted on camera. No one gets a free pass from me either on the sex stuff, especially if it ends up being alcohol-fueled and non-consensual. I have a very personal interest in your opinion since I've done about everything one can do for cast members who drink too much from holding heads above toilets at 3 am, to checking someone into rehab, to being there for them as a "family member" at an AA meeting. I think I qualify as someone with sufficient life experience to know where the end of the road is for some of the cast members, Adam included. :ireful3: :ireful3: :ireful3:

I know his drinking is crazy, but I think there is something to say for being 22 and in Vegas.

I wouldn't say Adam needs to go to AA because he drinks too much. Instead, I think the guy's just a huge ******* who probably does stupid crap all of the time because of that. AA won't cure general stupidity.

Yes his drinking is overly crazy and he needs to learn when to cut himself off, but being 22 in Vegas has nothing to do with it. I'm sure having free drinks thrown at you plays a factor, but the age limit shouldn't matter. He shouldn't be acting like a complete ****** every single time he drinks.

There is a turning point with his behavior. Age limit has a lot to do with it. Many young people do not know when to stop, especially when the drinks are free, your on the real world, and you are in Vegas.

I don't know, Adam is young and all that, but still he acts like he's never drank before. He acts like how a lot of my friends acted when we started drinking and we were like 14 and 15 at the time. I think Heather even called him out on how he was acting like a 16 year old once, and I agree with her. I get that people can get ridiculously drunk every once in awhile, but he appears to get like that all the time. He's an idiot.

When do we get to the point when we stop calling him an idiot and begin hoping he gets help? When reading this thread, I have the surreal feeling that I'm watching people watching two trains a few miles from a collision while knowing than any of them could simply switch one train to an available siding. I don't think people here are heartless, so I guess I'll chalk it up to an absence of life experience. Personally, I can't stand Adam or anything he appears to represent. Nonetheless, I know he needs help, and hope he gets it.

Never, because he is an idiot. I disagree that he needs help. He gets smashed and goes crazy, nothing to over-analyze. You compare Adam to a train wreck. Adam drinks a lot and blacks out... lots of people I know do the same thing, you don't see their families checking them into AA.

Maybe Adam has more serious issues as V1 suggests, but Dustin worries me just as much. Besides that whole drunken evening in Cancun we saw, he tweets all the time about drinking and being wasted--practically everyday. One day he was even drinking by lunchtime and today he replied to a twitpic of him peeing on the sidewalk saying he doesn't remember that. Adam seems to be at least keeping the drinking to the weekends if his tweets are reflective of his activities.

CrazyHorse, I agree. He drunk tweets,or as he says dreeting,EVERY SINGLE DAY. I so agree with everyone who says Adam acts like a teenage boy getting drunk off his first beer. He is beyond annoying.

This comparison implies that we can do something about Adam's problems and we can do absolutely nothing to help. Adam does need help and will only get it when he admits that to himself and I think the consensus (with which I agree) is that Adam is too stupid to even see that he has a problem. He seems to enjoy living in his juvenile fantasy world wherein he is king of the hill and too cool for school. He probably will not break out of this delusion unless and until he actually hits rock bottom and possibly not even then.

Why are we chalking it up to anything, I thought the point was to analyze, judge, criticize, speak your opinion on the reality shows, celebrities and not the "people here"?

Saille, simply raising awareness of the hideous dangers of binge drinking is doing something.

I haven't been on the Real World, but I have been young and in Las Vegas with free drinks. I still (most of the time) know when to cut myself off. It's called experience. You don't see any of his other roommates, who are around the same age, regularly drinking themselves to blackout do you? And they were all getting free drinks, on the Real World, in Vegas. Age limit really doesn't have anything to do with it. It might when you are first starting drinking, but I highly doubt that this is Adam's first time drinking. Although I kind of wish it was so I could chalk it up to inexperience...

Dear Vevmo: I love that the first thing I see when I load the site is a picture of Adam and the word "*********". Epic Win. The question for me isn't whether Adam needs help, deserves help, gets help, etc, bc even if he didn't have a problem (which I'm not saying he does, mostly because I don't care that much), he just seems like an ******* (before you jump down my throat....I said "seems". I don't know him, obviously.) I'd never hang out with a dude like Adam in a million years.
