Behind the Screen: The Real World: D.C. (Spoilers)

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Honestly, I can't stop thinking about as each season draws near that it marks the end of the show and the challenges...

I'm just saying..I live relatively close..Maybe it;s just me but I'd like to see a cast enjoy their time rather than production limiting them because of the environment..Im sure anywhere else is just as dangerous but I havent been to those places..Besides, have you ever been to DC??
Dartagnan#67
D.C. is quite dangerous, but I still like the location.

Me too!! I wonder if they will be a much more sophisticated group with established goals focused more on their cause or will they be like regualar cast members with a cause in mind..I also wonder what kind of drama they will have and if it will at all be in relation to their causes..I'm already getting ideas of what this may be like!

They might not even have them IN dc. Probably a surrounding area. Just like when they almost went to deadly Detroit...they were going to have them live in Royal Oak or whatever, just out of the actual city of Detroit.

LOL for a second, I forgot that DC was a chosen location for the RW..heh heh heh..I too like the location and im sure they will be in an awesome spot..I already see idiots who want camera time from off the streets..

It is too early to be excited for D.C. when Cancun hasn't even aired? LMAO. I'm curious about the cast...already.
Dartagnan#72
Haha. I honestly do believe that the city is a complete reflection off of the intentions of the producers. D.C. is definitely sounding promising.

LOL I keep getting flashbacks of Real World SD everytime they went out to the club..Im just hoping a nudist runs by the camera screen just once while the cast is in DC..That would make my life!!!

I have never been to D.C. or anywhere around there, any paparazzi to snap pictures like they did in Brooklyn?
OtherPplsDrama#76
I've been to DC and I didn't see anything like paparazzi...but who knows. If people know they are there I'm sure we'll get pics one way or another. :)
Dartagnan#77
Ooh. That would be nice TJ. Haha. I wonder if this season will be more about aspirations, or more about dealing with world affairs.

I was just wondering. I remember those photos of the Brooklyn cast was the first day of filming or something. :)

Its may be one of those "IDK who the hell you are but you have cameras following you so you must be worth taking a pic with" type things..Unless they are vevmoers who know of the cast ahead of time.. Im more optimistic than pessimistic about the DC season [[just to clarify]]
Dartagnan#80
I am definitely going to agree Ms. Dynasty. I expect a lot of good things from the D.C. season.

I just want to see the house! Then I'll be satisfied for a few months haha

JKU, I think it will be a long time. I don't even think they have started filming yet.
Anonymous#83
Yeah, I don't think filming starts until the end of June.
Dartagnan#84
Well, that is what B has told us, so I would assume it is right.

Ah I dunno about that...I've been following this show since Paris, and the houses are found out quite fast when the city is let out

Royal Oak is at 15-20 minute drive from Detroit. If they had wanted them to live "right outside" of Detroit, they would have placed them in Grosse Pointe or another surrounding city. If you have been to either location, you know that they could not get away with saying Real World: Detroit and have the house in Royal Oak. Detroit has such a preconceived notion of itself, it's hard to think otherwise...

I consider that right outside..considering the areas in and around Detroit....there's nowhere really...homie...to shoot a show. I'm guessing BMP thought that Royal Oak was the only safe place for them to stay. Which is stupid because if they are scared of the actual city...what's the point of going there in the first place? That is probably why they decided to scrap the Detroit idea all together.

Actually, anywhere about 5-10 minutes driving distance out of downtown Detroit could be considered "inhabitable" by production. The fact is, Detroit is hardly "interesting" enough and/or safe enough to be able to handle a season of the Real World... Royal Oak is not the only safe place. There's also Auburn Hills, 45 minutes out of Detroit, where the Detroit Pistons ACTUALLY play. Grosse Pointe, a 5 minute drive from Greektown, is one of the wealthiest areas in the state. Most of Oakland County and areas west of Detroit in Washtenaw County (as in Ann Arbor) are also completely safe areas. The only thing is that people would be able to tell that these people are not living "in" Detroit. 15-20 minutes outside of Chicago and New York is considerably different to 15-20 outside of Detroit considering that Detroit is one of the only major cities in the United States to not have their own public transportation system. I can think of many reasons that the Real World would never consider coming to Detroit. These are just a few...the main reason (in my opinion) being that it's just the most pathetic giant city in the United States. However, Detroit is not nearly as dangerous as Washington DC in terms of crime rates. Let's just hope they don't whip out their iPhones in the middle of the city ;) I'm still excited to see where in DC the house will actually be.

I've been a huge follower of the show since the Seattle season (wow)... and all this time I've been waiting for seasons in D.C. and Atlanta. Half of my wish has been granted, now when in the world will the RW go to Atlanta!?!?
