Behind the Screen: The Real World: D.C - Ratings

The reality TV landscape has never been more crowded or more diverse. From dating shows to competition series to docusoaps, networks and streamers are betting big on unscripted content.

What sets the great shows apart is their ability to create genuine moments — the kind of unscripted drama that no writer's room could manufacture. That's what keeps fans coming back.

The Real World: D.C - Ratings

GraysGreat ·
Does anyone know ratings/veiwership results for the previous seasons? I have been trying to search online. I know Brooklyn had an average of around 2.10 million viewers. Anyone else have any ratings information for all or any of the seasons. Im just curious.

I figured I should go ahead and start up the ratings thread. I think promotion has been pretty good. Hopefully it'll pay off. If, for some reason, the ratings aren't so good, there are at least 3 reruns coming almost everyday of the week. So that's another good thing. Lets hope this one pulls it off! :D

I'm hoping for good numbers, but being this one of the worst TV weeks of the year, I have a bad feeling...

I've just learned not to expect anything regarding ratings, who knows. If its as boring as RW Cancun's premiere, we have a problem. There is an aftershow, so it can't be too bad.

I'm hoping for some good ratings. Young people supporting important issues.

Boring or not, that really doesn't effect the premiere ratings. That is more to do with promotion and when it airs. The "when it airs" part is what worries me here and the first trailer was horrible. Still, they have been at it hard and more recent sneak peaks have been much better. Guess we will know soon enough.

Although, it is unsporting and actually not that hard (following the general trend) of me to predict this... I'm guessing series lows. It is more about how much lower than Cancun does it open. Hope I'm wrong.

As I said before, not expecting great ratings at all, don't understand why they couldn't wait a week to air it.

1.9 million for the premiere. Who would've guessed? D.C.'s hotter than Cancun. (free to register), from The Washington Post The print edition of this article has a chart with season premiere ratings of every RW season ever besides RW1 and RW2.

Wow Cancun is probably all mad lol

Me neither, but it pulled off a pretty good number if you ask me. There are tons of repeats coming up this week, so there is a good chance that 1.9 million will grow. But anyway, I'm glad this one managed to pull it off, with more than 500,000 viewers more than Cancun's premiere episode.

So how soon should we expect another Twitter tirade from Emilee?

lol soon.....very soon but I guess all her resentment is toward Mtv since she is friends with some of the DC cast. (judging by her Twitter)

Emilee thinks she's best friends with everyone. 1.9...not too shabby. As I said before, anything on MTV that gets almost two million is good, nothing gets good ratings on that channel anymore.

I cant seem to find the chart with all of the ratings. But im really interested in reading it. Could you possibly send a link?
Wilderwolf#19
Let's hope it stays all season, or steadily increases, that would be amazing.

Pretty good ratings especially considering the date it was premiered.

holy crap, that's exciting!!!!! especially with the holiday!!
DaCollegeKid#22
Is it true that they changed the ratings system recently so you can't really compare older ratings to recent ones?
saltvinegar#23
Thisis pretty good but it should have been higher based on how many promos were shown.

No... these ratings are fine for the amount of promos it got. After the disaster that was Cancun I'm glad that this season will pick up the slack. Even better, as Bacchus said, it is one of the worst television weeks of the year. Glad to see it pulled off.

Is anyone else having a hard time finding the print edition with the real world ratings chart? I really wanna see it. Can anyone help me find this chart?

I don't believe it can be found online (which is why he said print edition) but maybe you can get someone to take a picture and upload it.

Great news. It goes to show putting together a coherent storyline with compelling characters will in fact trump a giant 4 month kegger... I'm looking at my guide, and they are putting up all sorts of replays over the weekend, so hopefully they can hold this level or even build next week.

In regards to episode 2, TVOntheBrain.com mentioned "I haven’t seen viewer numbers yet, and the “ratings” below are coverage ratings rather than household ratings" as an fyi, not sure what that means exactly though

Episode 1 also has 271,427 views on MTV.com so far (although duplicates may exist).
