"The most entertaining drama this year surrounding the reality hit “Project Runway” may not be on screen but in the courtroom. The show that has helped define Bravo is moving to Lifetime beginning in November, according to a release yesterday from Lifetime and the Weinstein Co., which owns the rights to “Runway,” but Bravo parent NBC Universal is challenging the move in court. In a suit filed yesterday in an attempt to block the move, NBCU claims it had the right of first refusal for additional cycles of “Runway” and that Weinstein tried to force the network to buy the rights to unrelated movies for millions of additional dollars. Lifetime would seem to have agreed to take on those movies, which include “The Nanny Diaries,” “Bobby” and “Derailed,” as part of its new five-year deal with Weinstein. If it happens, the addition of “Runway” could prove a major coup for Lifetime, helping the network known for weepy female-focused movies create a younger and hipper image. “Runway” averaged 3.5 million total viewers during its most recent season on Bravo."
