Behind the Screen: Precious

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

I didn't think the ending was that uplifting, but that's what made it all the more realistic and disturbing. That movie was so disturbing, it stuck with me for days after I saw it...

Has anyone else seen this? I saw it yesterday and really, really liked it. Though the supposed "uplifting ending" wasn't as epic as I had hoped...I did find the acting to be really quite brilliant. I think Gabourey Sidibe and Mo'Nique will DEFINITELY be nominated for Oscars, but I think Mo'Nique has a better chance of winning the Supporting Actress category, as opposed to Sidibe winning the Lead. Check out Sidibie on The Tonight Show w/Conan. She's absolutely charming and fun to listen to!

I didn't think the ending was that uplifting, but that's what made it all the more realistic and disturbing. That movie was so disturbing, it stuck with me for days after I saw it. I'm not a hugely emotional person when it comes to fiction, but I was crying my eyes out! My sister was looking at me like I was crazy though, she used to be a social worker and she kept saying that it wasn't real because 1) there are no extreme cases like that and 2) that type of scenario would've been handled differently by social services. I know that Precious is based on several students that the author of the book had encountered not just one person, but just the thought that any of that stuff is going on in someone's house (even if not all of it at the same time) just completely infuriates me. *** is wrong with people? Mo'nique in particular was fantastic in that movie, she should win best supporting actress imo.
