Behind the Screen: The Pacific: Miniseries - HBO

The reality TV landscape has never been more crowded or more diverse. From dating shows to competition series to docusoaps, networks and streamers are betting big on unscripted content.

What sets the great shows apart is their ability to create genuine moments — the kind of unscripted drama that no writer's room could manufacture. That's what keeps fans coming back.

Band of Brothers was amazing. If this is anything like that...

I wish I could watch this, but we don't have HBO. But I really liked BoB, so I'll have to catch up on this one if it comes up on the web or when the DVDs come out...

The Pacific: Miniseries - HBO

Bacchus ·
I am so excited for this to start tonight. Of course, I list Saving Private Ryan as one of my all time favorite movies (along with the Thin Red Line) and think Band of Brothers was the best miniseries ever. I've been waiting for this part of the story since Band of Brothers ended 8 years ago and from what I hear, there is a major visual payoff (it had a $250 million dollar budget...for a television show...) I thought the first episode was a great start with the necessary back story. It was an introduction and a good one. It gets really good from here... The extended preview after the episode was mind shattering.

First part was really good. I dont understand the two 18 year olds' stories though. Are they just friends? Boyfriends? I understand Joseph Mazzello's character is upset over his heart issues but was that just it?

Now that I missed the beginning of this to cable outages, I may have to see if it is carried on Hulu or not too.

It's strange but anything from this time period interests me. Band of Brothers was awesome and I expect this to be really good.....despite the fact I don't have HBO. Guess it's online for me.

I'm watching episode 6 right now. I've been unintentionally grinding my teeth from the last 20 minutes. This is some scary ****. Every ten seconds someone is losing their head, arms, legs, or turning into pink mist with that artillery. And the fact is, what they are showing is only 1/1000th of the reality.

It's very brutal what they went through and on a regular basis at. It gives you a newfound respect for them and what they went through. Very well done series.
