Behind the Screen: Other RW/RR Challenge-Like Shows?

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

No but its very physical which is great. Its not as big budget but a lot tougher then most missions. I love it because I love competition

I remember this show from a few years back where it was couples/exes or something and they competed for money or something I can't remember. Kind of a show like The Challenge and I believe it was on mtv. [Not battle of the exes] Does anyone know the name of the show? Tried searching up exes/couples etc. and nothing comes up.

No but maybe it was a VH1 competition but maybe it was a VH1 show. It was a competition type show damn I wish I remembered :(
CoolerTalk#67
Survivor and Big Brother are two that come to mind. Not exact clones, but both have people competing for money using strategy to avoid elimination.

So I'm watching Steve Austin's broken skull Challenge and this ****s intense. 75% of challengers wouldn't be able to beat these guys in the stuff they do.

So I just searched that up and saw a bit of the first episode. Wished the challenge had more physical contact, that would be more entertaining.

Okay--the Broken Skull Challenge looked pretty good from the clip I just watched I'd love to see more one on one stuff on the Challenge

Does Stone Cold's show go into the personalities of the cast members, or is it just about the physical challenges?

Not really about their personalities...just competition. If there's ever a Duel III I hope they consider this type of format to determine the mission winners. Do everything individually and let people battle This first episode shows that it isn't just about who's the biggest guy.

The format was an 8 man tournament for the 1st half and then the second half of the show is the winner of that format having to finish a tough obstacle course. $10,000 is the prize. The challenge is only a day. Rope climbing, desert running, wall jumping, 30degree water obstacles, hauling junk, rope pulling, etc... They do need more 1v1's and include females on this show as well. The potential is there but at the same it's CMT...

The next episode is women

It'd be funny if whoever can't complete his Skull Crusher course Steve Austin ends up giving you a stone cold stunner for being weak.
Challenge 17#77
I love broken skull, I'd love to see snatch or trench warfare as a elimination round or mission for the challenge.

I have a couple episodes recorded on my dvr, gonna watch em when I get home from work. I saw the first female episode and it honestly sucked watching that Bootcamp instructor not being able to climb the final rope. She was hot lol

I hated Ogum I was so glad she beat her lol. I just got caught up yesterday and I'm watching the one right now and I'm loving it even more. Not to spoil anything but there are some great match ups especially with the guys but the girls have been great too.

I really do love the show. I didn't think I would but the competition has been great and proves even in battles of strength it isn't always the biggest person that wins.

I agree I love seeing the surprises, it truly shows not to underestimate anyone no matter the size or even age of whoever you're facing.

I watched the first episode of the Broken Skull Challenge. It was very intense. I didn't really like it, though, as much as I feel I should have. No doubt the competition was intense but the faceoffs weren't as fun to watch as I would expect them to be. Also, I'm such a sucker for reality TV - I didn't like how we knew nothing about the people themselves. I think the most I learned was that one guy was from Oklahoma. Also, the ultra masculinity was a little weird. It seemed very forced. But I can see why it would keep people who are interested in the competition side of things of the Challenge very entertained. I'll watch the girls' episode and see if my opinion changes any.

They have gotten better at showing more about them like one guys struggles with cancer or one girl who wants to use the money to help her family in the Philippines, it's more then just someone being tough. If you're looking for fun missions like you'd see on the challenge then look somewhere else. But if you care more about the girls then the guys like a lot of people do for the challenge then you won't be disappointed.

Yeah, honestly on the Challenges I like watching the girls WAY more (really, on any show. And I have no clue why) and I enjoyed the girls' episode a bit more. I think that the obstacles are pretty creatively tough!

Does anyone watch American Ninja Warrior? This old geezer, Jon Stewart, completed this course at 52 years old and a lot of these young bucks can't lol it looks so easy.

That's nothing compared to Kasey, the 5 ft 100 pound woman who did.

I think being 55 years old is a little more impressive. The big ramp and doorknob handle stations look tough.

CJ was on that show

I love Ninja Warrior, this year has been a little disappointing with alot of the big names going out early. The only thing I do not love about American Ninja Warrior, is when they make like the Japanese one does not exist.
GraffitiSoul#91
American Ninja Warrior has NOTHING on Sasuke (Original/Japanese Ninja Warrior). I think I read somewhere that the company that produced Sasuke went bankrupt & that's why there haven't been any new ones? I also liked Kunoichi (Women's Ninja Warrior), Unbeatable Banzuke (somewhat reminiscent of the older MTV challenges), and Viking: The Ultimate Obstacle Course.
