The last few weeks have been really exciting to watch and I have no question that the best two candidates for the job have risen to the challenge and were the ones selected to have the honor to battle it out for the prize.
I knew that these two candidates were the favorites the moment the show began but surprisingly upon an initial review, Caesar's Palace saw it quite differently!
After several heated discussions we decided that Chef Des Jardins possesses both the culinary sensibilities and high-pressure kitchen skills needed to win this contest and enters today as our odds-on favorite.The funny part is that she was the first chef out the door. It just goes to show that the odds makers know nothing about winning and losing - just how to make money! Chef Des Jardins did beat beat Batali in battle shrimp making her one of only two contestants (Besh being the other in battle Andouille) to actually win in kitchen stadium, so maybe that is where the initial confidence was derived from and there is no question that she is a great chef. I will be pulling for Chef Symon and from the previews it looks like the secret ingredient will be swordfish. However, I have a feeling that Chef John Besh will win and become the Next Iron Chef. Note: Michael Symon lost to Masaharu Morimoto in battle Asparagus so they enter kitchen stadium tonight with Chef Besh 1-0 and Chef Symon 0-1. Update: I just finished watching and The Next Iron Chef winner is: Michael Symon!
