Behind the Screen: Network Upfronts - 2009

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Network Upfronts - 2009

Bacchus ·
I just read that Chuck will be slated for the winter and Heroes will be moving into its time slot vs. House on Mondays this fall. I don't think that is a good call on NBC's part as I know which one I'll be watching should I have to choose between those two shows! Here is the NBC 2009-2010 schedule: NBC FALL 2009 SCHEDULE MONDAY 8-9 p.m. - “Heroes” 9-10 p.m.–”Trauma” 10-11 p.m. - “The Jay Leno Show” TUESDAY 8-10 p.m. - “The Biggest Loser” 10-11 p.m. - “The Jay Leno Show” WEDNESDAY 8-9 p.m. - “PARENTHOOD” 9-10 p.m. - “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” 10-11 p.m. - “The Jay Leno Show” THURSDAY 8- 8:30 p.m. - “SNL Weekend update Thursday” (multi-episode run) 8:30-9 p.m. - “Parks and Recreation” 9- 9:30 p.m. - “The Office” 9:30-10 p.m. - “Community” (moves to Thursdays 8-8:30 p.m. after multi-episode run “30 Rock” returns) 10-11 p.m. - “The Jay Leno Show” FRIDAY 8-9 p.m. - “Law & Order” 9-10 p.m. - “Southland” 10-11 p.m. - “The Jay Leno Show” SATURDAY 8-9 p.m. - “Dateline NBC” 9-10 p.m. - “Trauma” (encore) 10-11 p.m. - “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (encore) SUNDAY 7- 8:20 p.m. “Football Night in America” 8:20-11 p.m. “NBC Sunday Night Football” NBC MID-SEASON 2010 SCHEDULE (2010 WINTER OLYMPICS preempt regularly scheduled programming from February 12-28, 2010) MONDAY 8-9 p.m. - “Chuck” (premiere) 9-10 p.m.–”Day One” 10-11 p.m. - “The Jay Leno Show” TUESDAY 8-9:30 p.m. - “The Biggest Loser” 9:30-10 p.m. - “100 Questions” 10-11 p.m. - “The Jay Leno Show” WEDNESDAY 8-9 p.m. - “Mercy” 9-10 p.m. - “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” 10-11 p.m. - “The Jay Leno Show” THURSDAY 8- 8:30 p.m. - “Community” 8:30-9 p.m. - “Parks and Recreation” 9- 9:30 p.m. - “The Office” 9:30-10 p.m. - “30 Rock” 10-11 p.m. - “The Jay Leno Show” FRIDAY 8-9 p.m. - “Law & Order” 9-10 p.m. - “Southland” 10-11 p.m. - “The Jay Leno Show” SATURDAY 8-9 p.m. - “Dateline NBC” 9-10 p.m. - “Southland” (encore) 10-11 p.m. - “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (encore) SUNDAY 7-8 p.m. - “Dateline NBC” 8-9 p.m. - The Marriage Ref 9-11 p.m. - “The Celebrity Apprentice” (premiere) [via TVBYTHENUMBERS]

Hmmm, I wonder if they will put it up against Grey's. That is assuming Grey's will stay on thursdays. OPD, have you been keeping up with Lie to Me? I read on EW that it did get picked up for another season, but with a different head writer.

This lineup gives me the feeling that the NBC/Universal giant could be the next Chrysler or GM. Jay Leno at 10 PM reminds me of an aging Buick Riviera or full size Cadillac. You know your grandfather who should not be still driving is going to buy another of those things you hated riding in as a kid.

Actually not since it was interferring with Top Model on Wednesdays. But the last few days I've been catching up with episodes on Hulu (so far have seen the first 3 eps, and the last 4). It's a great show, and I'm glad it's staying!

Huh, I hardly watch anything on Fox and I didn't really realize it until now. The shows I do watch, beside SYTYCD, I catch later on Hulu. Tons of new shows on ABC, it will be interesting to see how it works out for them since it looks like the other major stations are pretty much keeping their existing shows and playing it safe. I also think it is a bad move for them to push Chuck to a mid-season premiere. I never really got into Heroes so it doesn't really make a difference to me when it airs, I just want Jeffster back asap!
CrazyRealityGuy#10
I actually really like Medium and I am sad to see NBC didn't pick it up. But I heard CBS might pick it up since they are the company behind the show.

hmmm, this makes it easy to figure out a schedule, thanks B :)

I might drop Grey's on Thursday night as it conflicts with Fringe. All depends if Izzy is dead or not I suspect.

I'm feeling the same way.

It sucks because I have nothing to watch on Tuesdays... BTW: I just looked at my DVR timers for the week. VERY SPARSE! All the network shows (besides Harper's Island) are gone for me. I guess I'll watch that reality show on NBC and keep busy until Big Brother.

Hee, I'll totally be watching I'm a Celebrity...

Ditto... Fringe is by far the top show on my list. Hey B, Do you have the line up for CW yet?

I don't even get that station, lol. Dish won't uplink it and I refuse to use rabbit ears. So, umm...no. :D

ABC moved Ugly Betty to Friday? I thought it had decent reviews? FOX scored on Mondays with House and 24 back to back. And NBC...well, they still have the Office. Although I don't watch the new L&O as much as the older ones.

I just did a search, and it doesn't look like they've come out with an official lineup yet. CBS either.

So won't Fringe be up against Grey's, CSI, Supernatural, and NBC's comedy lineup? That seems dumb on FOX's part. I don't watch any of them other than the NBC comedies, but Grey's and CSI are both huge, and I assume Fringe has similar fans to Supernatural (and CSI for that matter.) The comedy lineup is also pretty popular, but may not be the same audience. That just seems like a bad move for Fringe on FOX's part. And molds, 24 does not start until January, so I'm sure when it comes around they will go back to their House/24 Mondays. :) I heard Lie to Me is good though. I saw one episode and enjoyed it.
molds13#25
FOX has So You Think You Can Dance on Thursdays at 8 for now...at least that's what my DVR told me the other night when I went to record it!

Ahh, good point. I don't watch 24 or Lie to Me, but maybe if it comes on after I'll be forced to check it out!

I think that the majority of Fringe watchers who watch those shows as well will have no problems ditching the other shows in favor of Fringe because it is such a damn good show.

Oh I just noticed that, they got rid of Earl? That show is HILARIOUS!! :(

Why the hell are they moving SVU to friggin Wednesday? First it was on Monday, then Fridays (where it should've stayed), Tuesday (where it should've stayed as well) and now Wednesday.
