I don't care if Ortiz takes PEDs, but you do, so I like to bring it up. He hasn't been suspended for PEDs, but many people who took steroids have never even failed a test let alone get suspended. The only reason why A-Rod was caught was because of people snitching. Just think about how different A-Rod's legacy would be if people didn't snitch on him. For all we know Ken Griffey Jr. could have been juicing in Seattle with A-Rod and everyone adores him.

He's too injury prone and wants too much money over too much time. They will make a qualifying offer and take the draft pick. It will hurt, but be the right move over the long run.

As a big White Stripes fan, I love the chants at Comerica. However, Uehara was lights out again and I'm looking forward to this series returning to Boston.

Wow St. Louis looked tough last night. Carp/Beltran/Holliday/Molina/Craig/Freese is almost unfair. Not to mention, Wacha has been the best pitcher in baseball so far this post season.

The Tigers bullpen is still what prevents them from winning the World Series. It has been their problem for the past 3 years.

I still can't even talk about it. They are awful. If you would have told me before the season started that our starting pitchers would have given up 8 errors in 6 games and still lost the series, I would have told you you were crazy.

Every time Benoit came out to pitch, I had a heart attack. Every screw up, another heart attack. I'll leave it to the readers to guess how many total that was.

B, In light of last night's performance, what are the odds Lester wins MVP over Ortiz? Discussing it with some people here and the consensus is that it's crazy not to reward the level of play Papi has been putting forth, but Lester has been pretty darn crucial as well.

There are 4 major professional sports leagues in America: The NFL, The NBA, MLB, and College Football. Hockey is on its own weird tier where it is a major sport in like 4 US Markets, but a non-factor in the rest.

Sorry, college football is still football and it is currently not a professional sport by any definition. As to areas that watch hockey fanatically, they happen to be some of the biggest media markets in the country including #1 New York, #3 Chicago, #4 Philadelphia, #7 Boston and #11 Detroit. So yes, hockey is a big deal and a major sport. Of course, if hockey was removed from the chart Boston would still be Titletown USA. We have 29 titles in the Big 3 sports - 7 since 2001 (3 World Series, 3 Super Bowls and 1 NBA title).

Definition of professional sports according to wikipedia: sports in which athletes receive payment for their performance I would say that they receive payment in the form of a scholarship, and sometimes they get outside cash, making it a professional sport. Notice how I said leagues and not sports in my initial post. Chicago, Philly, Boston, and Detroit I would agree on. I don't think hockey is that big in New York though. They are more of bandwagon fans for the team. I would throw Pittsburgh in as a hockey market and remove New York. While it is big in the hockey markets which are generally large markets, they only represent a small percentage of the population. When you include New York, hockey markets only make up about 14.3% of the US Population, slightly less than the population of the South (I only went with the states that are undoubtedly considered part of the South, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and Arkansas. Texas, Florida, and Virginia are only partially "Southern" so I didn't include them, which would have made the % much higher) . If a sport were only popular in the South, you would call it a regional sport and not a major American professional sport.

It's big enough that the metro has three teams. The Rangers, an original six team, sold out 100% of home games and their ratings on MSG sored last year. They are definitely a hockey town. However, like Boston - hockey is the 4th most popular professional sport. The 4th major sport.

I'm flabbergasted that the WNBA is not considered a major sport. I'm sure the 217 in attendance at each game would disagree. OK, so there wasn't the slightest hint of sincerity in my WNBA post. As big of joke and as boring as it is to watch, hockey has to be considered a major professional sport. On a baseball note, the Prince for Kinsler trade was interesting.
