Behind the Screen: Internships and Reality TV

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Hey all, I was wondering if any one had some info on this topic. Say someone was to intern for a television network, for example, lets say MTV/Viacom Network (that being, mtv, vh1, spiketv etc.) would they be considered ineligible to audition for their television shows?

Almost all of the applications for reality shows require that you disclose if you now or in the past have worked in the industry. My understanding of the FCC rules is that you are considered to have been exposed to insider info or have the appearance of potentially receiving an advantage by virtue of having working for a specific broadcast entity.
