Behind the Screen: Hung - HBO

The reality TV landscape has never been more crowded or more diverse. From dating shows to competition series to docusoaps, networks and streamers are betting big on unscripted content.

What sets the great shows apart is their ability to create genuine moments — the kind of unscripted drama that no writer's room could manufacture. That's what keeps fans coming back.

Hung - HBO

Bacchus ·
Is anyone else watching Hung, on HBO? It runs right before Entourage, so I've been giving it a shot and there is just enough there to make me tune in week to week (although I am not blown away as of yet.) YouTube - "Hung" Trailer #1
Desperate times call for desperate measures and Ray Drecker's situation couldn't be much tougher. The former high school sports legend turned middle-aged high school basketball coach is divorced and struggling to provide for his kids when his already run-down house catches fire. Yes, he does play the role well and seems like a good actor. Although as a side note, I think his wife (aka Patricia Arquette) went a little too big... User image

Bacchus, your watching hung but not true blood? Shame on you.

I started watching Hung as well. It seems like a good show. I'm going to have to add it to my new HBO lineup. :) I like that crazy Anne Hesch plays his ex wife.

Like I've said, I think vampires are stupid. Sure, it might be worth watching for the nudity, but that is the only redeeming factor. ;)

I've been watching this. I like it so far, Sunday's episode was good with the repeat customer from Hell! I sort of agree with Lilysmom about the ****...all I keep seeing is "Mel" from "Frasier" and they made her look a lil too run down. I understand she is supposed to be homely, but they have her looking like she just worked the 3rd shift mining or something! I am looking forward to next week though!

Bacchus doesn't like vampires? No. But when I surfing the channel and saw this show I thought it was a flick or something.

I recognized her, but couldn't place her. Ended up going to IMDB and figured out that she was Karen Darling from Dirty Sexy Money.

Oh my, Patricia is married? I did NOT know that.

Thoughts on last nights episode? I thought it was okay. still think "mel from fraiser" is the worst **** on earth! Did anyone else think the son has a crush on her?

As I have alluded to in the past, I think this show is just ok. There is enough there to make me tune in, but not enough for me to rave. I think I already know where things are headed. As for the ****, she just needs a makeover, lol. :D

Ok...I think I see where everything is leading. The shopper chick who is friends with Ray's ex-wife convinces her to have sex with a male prostitute who happens to be Ray. Or, at least that is where I think this is going.

I'll netflix this when it comes out. I just couldn't take on another show at the time. I really need to cut back!

I caught the season 2 premiere last night before Entourage and was laughing hard. Not to mention that Sol from [********] was in it!! I think if I knew that this was filmed in my home state I would have started watching a lot earlier :D On a side note...my best friend is a soccer coach for one of the high schools in the Detroit area (aka, not the best part) and the way that he was talking to the principal (or whoever he was talking to) about not being able to afford transportation and new uniforms and all that stuff sounded just like a conversation I had with her a little while ago. Then, as if on cue, later on it showed his two kids and one was wearing a Hamtramck sweatshirt, which is where she coaches. Small world...

I liked Thomas Jane since Deep Blue Sea and The Punisher. And I love his wife (hopefully soon to be mine) Patricia Arquette. I have heard about the show, and I have heard good things, but I want to know Vevmo's reaction to the show. Is it funny? Is it good? Is it a drama? or a comedy? or a dramady? I know he is a male ***** with an extra big ******, but thats pretty much all I know about the show.

I've been slogging through this last season of Hung, mostly out of "obligation" being I'm invested having watched the first season. There doesn't seem to be anywhere for the show to go dramatically. The only epiphany the lead character can possibly reach is, "I shouldn't be a ******" and if he ever does, the point of the show existing is gone. In other words, he can never get back with his ex-wife as that would be the end of the show being he'd have to stop being a ****** (and if he didn't stop, everyone would hate him so what's the point?) The concept was funny, but would have made for a better mini-series than full blow multi-season show. I'll tune into season 3 episode 1, to see if there is any new life injected into the story, but I highly doubt that to be the case.

I'm still on the first season. I got it on DVD. I think it is an entertaining show. I love 1/2 hour HBO shows, because it doesn't drag on and gets straight to the point.

So do they ever show the main characters *****? He is kind of hot. Seeing him nude would be my only incentive to watch the show.
