Behind the Screen: How are reality shows created?

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Why not start with a little "Google" effort, and then come back with far more specific questions. I could lecture for hours on how shows are made and people cast...

I will be happy to contribute my "personal experience" on how it affects family (including Grandma) and the individual etc...

It's the business we are in at Vision 1 Media Group. Reality TV An excellent overview... Planet DMA : Show Starter Reality Production Book Ignore that this link is about selling a book on the subject, there is a lot of meat here. At Planet DMA : Reality TV you will find a long list of Q/A about the business of creating reality TV. You might find some answers her you don't expect. Again, come back after doing a little research and ask more specific questions if you have them.

I've always wondered, say Colie goes in a challenge could you tell someone that she is on one sense you aren't under a contract.

I am under a gag order. Her closest 20 or so family and friends signed up for the program way before Colie left for Denver. But my most important concern is my daughter. If I blog she would pay the consequences.

ColiesMom: I just re-watched the Denver season (it is on Comcast on Demand). Was there anything particular that sticks out as hard to watch and is there anything that sticks out as something really funny you think Colie did? I think Colie did so many little things that were hilarious she seems like a fun person to be around.

That is way to broad a question. Just about everything she did sticks out. Yes, she is really funny, very tongue in cheek.

My favourite Colie moment was when she rode that elephant in Thailand drunk.

As I recall it, she was very kind to the elephant. Well done, mom!
